10 yr old yellow lab hind legs have given out

scooter has an enlarged heart and is on lasix and theophilline to control coughing and gagging. now his hind legs are uncontrollable to him. i can't lift him, he has been laying at the bottom of my ramp since 8 this morning. it is now1230. i put a comforter under him and covered him with a blanket. plan to go to vet as soon as other half gets home. (he can't leave work). what could be causing this. he has been getting weaker but would always come as long as i led him..now i try to help him up with his rear end and his front legs go spastic,he just lies there. any help will be appreciated....

Soooo very sorry this is happening. With his heart condition and medications its hard to tell. It should be a need for an adjustment in his dosages of medications.
So glad you are getting him to the vet, he needs to be seen as soon as possible.

Sorry to read that your boy is struggling. I hope you're at the vet's by now.

My friend just went through what you're going through 2 weeks ago with her 13 year old girl. Sadly she didn't survive. She was humanely euthanized because of congestive heart failure and pulmonary edema, and her hind legs, too, gave out. There was nothing more that could be done for her. She died peacefully after putting up a good fight.

Wishing you and Scooter all the very best. Please let us know.

Thinking of you and Scooter! Hopefully it's just a meds adjustment. Or maybe he fell and needs a chiropractor? Let us know how it goes!
