Adopted:Partially blind senior neglected starved Lab in kill shelter in OH

More About Gleason

Gleason is a gentle older dog in terrible shape. This poor dog has been starved and he is partially blind. If you have room in your heart for this dear soul his adoption is URGENT as he is in a kill shelter. Please spay and neuter your pets so offspring do not end up in a kill shelter like Gleason!!
My Contact Info
I sent an email to Lab Ret Rescue of Cinncinnati begging for help.

Unfortunately, here is the reply I got from Lab Ret Rescue of Cinncy

Currently, due to the many special needs cases we have taken in the past couple of months, including a starved neglected senior Labrador, we are over capacity and under funded. Good luck. Perhaps you can pull him and start his rehab until a rescue is able to pull him.

It sure is so sad. The only way this will have a happy ending is if the folks on this forum work together to get this poor dog the help he needs. He's older, black and in need of vet care. We all know those are three strikes against him.
Does anyone on this forum have a contact at this shelter?

Oh the poor baby! I wish I could help more...

I can pull & do some transporting!!

This shelter is only about an hour away, they are VERY good about being honest with the dogs' personality. I have pulled from them before! the are REALLY good & helpful! great shelter to work with!

I can't foster for more than a few days right now though...just overrun with dogs being dumped on us...

Jess- TY for the offer of help. I have posted him far and wide and have offered a donation. I had a lady from NJ email me but not sure HOW serious she is. She was concerned about transporting him that far in rough shape. I told her we could do it within time and I to would keep for a few days to help make the trip easier. Havent heard anymore back from her. So PLEASE PLEASE post far and wide and lets try to save this boy before it IS to late!!

Well, kim that may work.
Get ahold of your contact & see if they are serious! let them know we can work this out rather easily!

I could hang onto him for a few days, I could put him in a horse stall for a few days with some really good food, and some canned puppy chose..it looks like he is in desperate need of a simple de-worming!! Then, we could get him on up to you, and a few days of really good food would really turn him around!

I also guarantee that after he has had his shots, I should be able to get him into MD no probs...OR I need to get to the belmont county shelter pretty soon,(next few weeks) I could get him to cabelas in Wheeling WV (general area)
I think he will look like a TOTALLY different dog within a few weeks of good food & some dewormer.. the big belly & jutted bones just SCREAMS worms to me...but maybe it's just me! LOL
