Took the puppies to their first practice match today

They did great. Not perfect but I was very pleased to see that they are like their mother in that what I got in the ring was exactly what I get in training class .... new place, people, dogs, noises etc didn’t phase them one bit. Cookie still tries to lag on turns, Sass still comes in way too fast on the recall and can’t find front, LOL, but that’s ok.

I was especially pleased that Cookie, who tends to be very distractible actually gave me very good attention, and Sass, who tends to be a bit timid was friendly and outgoing with everyone (people anyway - I don’t let them interact with other dogs when they are supposed to be working, but she didn’t so much as bark at any dogs which she has been known to do in the past).

Starting to feel like they might actually have potential, LOL. The one thing that did confuse them a bit was being on the same set of stays - I had my daughter who had come with us, handle Cookie. Cookie was fine with that, but she and Sass kept glancing at each other across a toy poodle who was between them like “what are YOU doing here when I am working!”

Sounds like a great first time performance. I can just visualize them looking over the toy poodle; funny visual.

The stays must have been fun to watch with them staring at each other (good test for them too!)

Sounds encouraging for future competitions. Must have been funny to watch them in the ring together when they are not used to working at the same time.
