It is my pet peeve that people don't show up to show, and break majors, majors are so hard to come by, because it takes so many Labradors to get one, it makes me mad. When you make an entry, you make a promise to others to show your dog, what's worse is there are some people that make a habit of it.
It's the worst. Jagger missed finishing because of someone staying home. We chased that last point for months. I just shake my head, she could have had a major! It's OK. The boy got the cross over BOW and was pissed too. He let one of the ladies know though.

Peer pressure is the only way to fix this, if no one says anything, they will think it's OK.

Make sure you show to him again, he will find her again at another show. :-)

    Congratulations!
That's got to be extremely frustrating. I overhear people talking about it, saying but there were supposed to be X dogs here..... and then I hear others saying, well, we're entered in such and such show, but we're not bothering.... then why bloody enter in the 1st place?!?!

We have a similar problem in Obedience, but at least it’s not a quite as bad because we don’t “need” a huge win to get the OTCH, but it really helps. OTCH points are awarded by how many dogs showed, and it’s very frustrating to realize that you were one missing dog away from the next level of points. At least we could theoretically put together an OTCH one point at a time ... if we had the time and money that is.

I agree you paid your money, you should go. There are times when I can see it happening. I was at a show where there were no majors. A handler pulled his dog that needed a major which allowed the points to go to different dogs. But at my show, everyone needed points and majors, and there was no good reason for pulling out. 1 lady had 2 girls and she wasn't at ANY of the shows. The other just was tired on Monday. If SHE had shown, we would have gotten the 3 points.
