We NQ'd at the trial today, the little monster decided it would be best to stand up and check out a chalk mark on floor during the sit/stay. Despite the NQ I consider today a success. We lost 1 point on healing, 2 points on the figure 8, and 1//2 point on the recall. Best of all ZERO points on the sit for exam which is a major accomplishment for Mr. Happy McWiggles!
And yes, I did wear a pair of lightweight Colombia cargo pants!!!

Awww ... sorry about the NQ, but sounds like lots to be happy about!
When is your next try?
And how hot was the building - I know they don’t have A/C and I am dreading tomorrow afternoon, LOL.

It wasn't to bad in the building, but they were having a lot of issues with wetness on the floor because of the humidity, it was pretty slick in spots, especially towards the back. They tried to keep it drying it with towels with limited success.
There is very limited space for crating, so we worked the dogs out of the truck. There was a huge problem with ticks. The lady I was with pulled 3 or 4 off her dogs, and a couple of of her. I did a thorough tick check on Brooks and myself when we got home. None on him, one on me at the lower back.
Thanks for the info - Alicia told me she had been running the dehumidifier yesterday but I guess it didn’t do much good. Thankfully today was pretty dry so hopefully it will be less of a problem tomorrow. I’ll prepare to show out of the car if I need to, as well and UGH about the ticks. Last thing we need is more ticks although at least she’s already on doxy!

Eeeewwwww... a tick. Yetch. Grosses me out.
Sorry about the NQ. A young lab with ADHD... oh, look! A chalk mark!!! Go figure. Honestly. How could you have neglected to do that critical chalk mark proofing!!!
The funny thing is we have trained with chalk marks, little sticky dots and other things you may see on the floor. The lady I train with has her own fully equipped training building so we can set up all kinds of stuff. We've even put Lab fur at different spots on the floor. This has been one of his issues as we've gone along, but he has never done it while doing this specific exercise.
No excuses, but it was a long day for him. Up at 4am, drive an hour to my friends place, load up in her van, drive 1.5 hours to the venue. Waited almost 5 hours for our class. I had him out of the crate quite a bit, but still that's a long time for a young dog to be cooped up.
The closer you can park towards the building the better, stay away from the weeds at the outer end of the parking lot if you can. I think that was the big issue with ticks on the dogs. I never had Brooks in that area, especially when others were finding so many ticks. I had a chair set up at the back of the van right at the woods, and figure that's where I picked up the tick on my back.

Sadly we have more NQ's in obedience than passes. Jed is ornery and will never come on the first call on the recall....

Barry,
Dogs will be dogs (especially so with young one's like BROOKS). Chalk it up to a learning experience and train on the holes toward the next event. All good.👌
