I will try and work one of these in, as I'm looking for a show or two in October.

I know I sound like an idiot, but what is a WC?

A WC is a Working Certificate, a basic instinct test for retrieving and is issued by the LRC Inc. It consists of a land retrieve of 50 yards or greater and two back to back water retrieves to show willingness to re-enter the water. It is not considered an AKC title, hence the Certification. WC's are easy and fun, and I am sure Brooks is completely, totally ready to pass.

There is also opportunity to have your Lab evaluated for a CC, Conformation Certificate, if he has no disqualifying faults.

    Congrats
Loosing a point for being too friendly is perfectly fine in my books I could see Penny doing that. In fact it was one of the hardest part of the CGC we were slowly working on, she would be all over the judge for the exam/grooming LOL!

    Congratulations!

I have just gotten “permission” from my trainer to put my young girls in BN at the LRC/MJLRC shows. I’ve never done BN as Chloe was ready for Novice when it was introduced so I didn’t bother going back.

As for licking on the sit for exam, if he didn’t leave position, it shouldn’t be scored but it’s really up to the judge. I had one judge once years ago, who didn’t take any points off for Scully standing up on her hind legs on the stand for exam, giving her a big ole kiss, and coming back down because there was no forward motion. Of course she had Goldens and thought it was funny - most judges would have scored that. Someone with other breeds might not have been so amused by a big dog going for their face. My trainer who is a judge will admit to completely interpreting behaviors differently depending on the breed.

We have a CC and WC coming up w/ the PSLRA club in 2 wks also. Since I won't be able to finish Ruby's JH this year, I figured if nothing else, it'll be a good training op.
