New "nurse" in the house! ;)

Yesterday we braved the mountain pass thru slushy snow to try an indoor venue for Rally Novice. This venue is VERY tight w/ the obed ring and rally ring only separated by a common line of baby gates and a general crating area which was also fairly crowded but I found a slot between 2 bigger dogs (one owner who I knew was in Utility B w/ a nice dog). They welcomed my little Pip and made some jokes about my flimsy little pop up crate as she was poking her nose into the mesh there for a bit.

Our ring started after lunch and we were to be last in for the B class. I held my breath since Open A was going on, because yikes, a small black lab (about Kanzi's size) was entering the ring as I waited for the 2 dogs to run in front of Pippin and me. TG the one Rally dog was *really* slow, so the retrieve exercises of the Open A dog were just wrapping up as we were entering the ring. There was still enough going on (broad jump only ~15' away followed by stewards changing jump heights etc and new dog entering for heeling). She had a minor points off for those distractions but in the end, we left w/ a 95/100 which was just a point shy out of placements. Not bad for her being 8 mos old and the youngest one there! She is now WindyCanyon's Pippin RN.

Funny thing but other obed exhibitors had to come meet Pippin and couldn't believe how "chill" she was in the environment. Quite frankly, she is so nonchalant about it all it's almost scary to me too as I'm wondering when that other shoe is going to drop! Today she got to go visit my club's agility trial for a bit, so that was a new experience. She seemed to really enjoy watching all the fast jumpers dogs. Maybe we'll take a class this fall while I have some down time. I still have a teeter, weaves and a few jumps in my shop too. Of course we'll be working on more Rally, BN and field basics as well. Guess I'd better get on the stick and take a new "family pic" for my signature line too since she's not in the current one!

PS Don't know how to rotate the one pic... oh well. And yes, that was MY bloody mary, not hers... after driving thru the first snow of the season and enduring wet/ windy weather, I needed it! Oh, and made it home just in time to see the end of the MSU Spartan v Indiana game... Go Spartans!

Congratulations Pippin. I knew Rally Novice was what you meant. Before I ever heard of rally I saw the RN after a dog's name and thought, what the heck?

So what you're saying is that little Pippin is crisp and sweet. Crisp obedience and sweet temperament. Sounds like a real keeper.

Thanks everyone. I'm amazed I don't have a major cold at this point after helping out (in the wind and cold) at our agility trial on Friday, going to Wenatchee on Sat, and back to the agility trials on Sunday... Because yesterday I was feeling like a cold was coming on! Zinc & vit C to the rescue??? Dunno but today is a gorgeous day and I pretty much blew off my work to get some winterizing done while the sun is shining!
