    2017 recap and 2018 goals

We just finished our last trial for the year. Thinking back on 2017 and planning 2018.

What dog sport/training milestone did you accomplish in 2017? And what are you planning and plotting for 2018?

I love seeing what everyone has done and where everyone is going

    Hmm ....
Both girls got their Beginner Novice titles with good scores (1st and 2nd places, 198+) at Nationals.
Chloe earned another 30 or so OTCH points, and got her needed first places. She also earned her UDX 2 and OM4. She’s one leg shy of a UDX 3. Would have liked more OTCH points though!

For 2018 ... goal is to get more OTCH points on Chloe; not sure if I will bring the pups out in Novice yet - maybe later in the year. Would like to have them trained through Utility and they aren’t quite yet.

Chloe (HIT HC OTCH Windsong's Femme Fatale, UDX4, OM6, RE) 6/7/2009

    And remembering:

2017 was all about getting Tickle's Championship. Which we did and got a good start on her Grand too. The rest of anything else planned was put aside due to caring for the Griff.
2018....That's all up in the air. We're still recovering from our losses. But main thing planned is Puppies. Then Tickle will work on her Grand some more along with her noseworks. The boys need to do something this year. Maybe Jed can get his final CD legs before he's too old or they can all round up their rally titles in both AKC and UKC.

Brooks got his RN and BN this year. Plan on Novice obedience and at least Intermediate Rally, possible Advanced Rally. Also working towards a JH.

So fun to see what everyone is up to. 2017 was crazy for us, but I got some dogs stuff done anyway.
Bert went from having no titles to being "Bert CDX BN GN OA NAJ" !!! The funny thing is that we spent 75% of our time training for field trials. Toward the end of our trial season I entered Bert in 3 field trials (qualifying). He picked up the bird in the third series of each one, but we were dropped due to some naughty behavior toward the end of the water blind. He has come SO far this past year and improved so much. Putting a whole day together is tough for the crazy dude, he's just very amped coming to the line that many times in one day. He is also dealing with a very amateur handler who is rapidly trying to keep up in this new sport! Its my hope that by next year he can maintain his cool through out the entire trial and I am a much better handler. I'm thrilled that he has done so well in our VERY competitive field trial region. We are running against the best pros and dogs in the country. Pretty cool!

2018... I hope to bring Bert out for his UD in March/April, and will sprinkle a few agility trials in there somewhere. Then off to training for field trials thru October Hope to get him QAA this year, and then we'll see where this awesome little dog will take me. We might also run a few master tests as I belong to multiple clubs and will be working their tests. In October, we start that long road to OTCH...

Bert also got to spend some time being a real labrador
