Great day for Labs at the Obedience Trial today!

Showed Chloe at an Obedience trial in Verona, NJ today. Large entry - 37 dogs, including some of the top dogs in the country. Open was good, but not special (196, no placement) but in Utility she gave me a beautiful class, earning an outstanding 198.5. She ended up 3rd having narrowly lost a run-off to Linda Brennan and Heart, who is a National Championship winner for second. First place was Petra Ford with her dog Zeal - she has won the NOC twice with his father. Very exalted company to be in and all 3 of them are black labs! :-)

    Congrats!
Because I am nosey and always looking at lab lines - I looked up the two people you listed (who both seem to be dog trainers/rehab specialists to boot) and Heart is from Petra Fords's Tyler! So posssible both Heart and Zeal had the same dad?

I also see Zeal is a rhumbline dog - have been watching those for awhile now

"Linda’s first Labrador Retriever is “Heart.” She couldn’t resist a daughter from Petra Ford’s Tyler! Heart is lots of fun and boundless energy. Linda and Heart are having fun training in obedience and field work too! Heart’s up for anything. Heart earned her UD in just 3 shows, and just 4 shows later earned her OTCH! Heart has already earned 200s in Beginner Novice, Open and in Utility. She won Novice Obedience and Ultimate at All Star in 2014. She also won Novice at the 2014 AKC Rally National Championship and placed in Novice Obedience at the 2014 AKC Classic. But she didn't stop there, winning the AKC Classic in the Masters class in 2015 and the first ever Westminster Obedience trial in Feb. 2016. In March 2016 Heart was fifth overall at the National Obedience Championships in Tulsa, OK coming in fourth place in the Sporting Group. In Oct. 2016 Heart was first after 3 days of competition at the regional qualifier in NH. The future is bright and the sky is the limit for this girl!"

I think Heart and Zeal are littermates .... but I’m not positive. Petra does own one of Heart’s littermates but it might be her other dog. If not littermates, then definitely both Tyler kids. I believe both are Rhumbline. There are a lot of Rhumbline Tyler kids doing quite well in our area. Great working dogs, but a bit too “fieldy” in appearance for my tastes. (Tyler kids that is - Rhumbline’s other dogs are not that “style”).

Ditto, not my style either (though in many ways "fit" my want list a bit more). Rhumbline has some lines that are more "show-ish" but seem to be breeding the fieldy lines more these days (maybe even exclusively?). I just get a kick when my research comes full circle (and I see dogs I know the breeder/line)
