    New Title

Brooks got his third Rally Intermediate leg today at the Talbot Kennel Club Rally trial. He did a very good job, we scored 90 and took 3rd place. When we finished our run, the judge came up to me and apologized for having to deduct 10 points because Brooks' elbows were slightly off the ground on a down. I swear I looked when he did the down, and I was certain his elbows were indeed down. The judge went on to say that Brooks and I were the best handler/dog team she had see all day. I took that as a win.

I did speak to a lady who had been the instructor for a rally class we took, and who also judged us at a trial last November, and she confirmed to me that Brooks wasn't fully down, elbows slightly off the ground.

I will say this judge was pretty tough, it was the first rally trial we've done that no one score a 100 in ANY class. Had we not had the issue we had, we would have scored 100. Shoulda, coulda, woulda.

We go back Sunday for our first Novice Obedience Trial. I'm not too optimistic. Brooks has struggled with stand for exam (damn happy, friendly Labs!) so it could go either way. Send us some Lab Board Mojo!!!!!!

    Been there ...
    Done that!
Just remember on Sunday to give a very firm STAY (w/ hand signal) on the Stand for exam. Mine have always surprised me w/ their trial savvy. They seem to know when mama dog is serious.

Good luck and congrats on the title. We are about to start Rally Intermediate with Jack. I ran him through a class yesterday and he did great, so I'll put him in the next show in May. That way he can hopefully get 2 legs down and he should be his Achiever Dog certificate too!

Don't look down. A Judge up our way is known to be very strict too. Fair, but uncompromising. CONGRATULATIONS, a very good placing and a new title, YAy team Brooks and Barry.

Congrats Team Brooks!! It's tough to get a perfect score with a judge like that, but that's what competition is all about-finding the BEST..

    Sending
    Lab Board Mojo and
thoughts of perfect score for Sunday!!
