I had a chance to judge a sanctioned match over the weekend and it was a lot of fun! I’ve run people through at show ’n go’s before but never been in charge of setting up the ring, organizing/training stewards and actually scoring the few people who weren’t FEO. My favorite part was being complimented for my patience, especially with the Novice and Beginner Novice people, which didn’t actually require any patience on my part! I enjoyed explaining how things work and giving them tips, etc.

My trainers been encouraging me to apply for my Obedience judging license for a while now and I’m thinking I might go for it! It will take a while to fulfill all the requirements (lots and lots of stewarding, apprenticing, etc) so I’m not in any rush but maybe in a few years ...

Good for you. The friend who got us into agility just took off with it and became a judge in no time. From what I hear she is very well liked as a judge (some are not) and I bet you would be too.

WTG Annette!!! If anyone can do this, you can! We're proud of you!!!

My sister was a ring steward for years and also taught puppy classes with a pro-trainer. I love going to dog shows (whether entered or not) and watching obedience trials.

Wait now, how long does it take to grow another set of eyes or at least learn to take dictation w/o looking?
I've judged local matches and oh my... it's hard to keep up w/ some of them!
