I think charging more is a field thing, and if they have been started and have a solid background and obedience they should cost more. In the bench bred circle, it varies more. In fact I am placing Miley's sister soon, to a family that has an older dog from me, for a nominal fee, because they are such an awesome family, and I know how lucky my 1 year old puppy will be. I wish you were closer you are an excellent candidate for a show dog washout.
I know what you want to do with your puppy, so I would start asking around at good breeders near you. I would much prefer you get a well bred, purpose bred, puppy/older puppy/young adult, than a "project puppy" from a rescue since you have had such heartache/heartbreak the last few years. Start talking to breeders, and send them detailed emails about yourself and your dog experience, the more the better, and what your plans are for the dog. I would be thrilled if I had someone like you looking for a socialized older puppy to compete with! My puppy would have a great life, and a puppy with my kennel name with all kinds of great titles!
Any chance you can travel to the USA for a puppy?
