    Diggity the dock diving dog

We finished the intro pool / dock diving class and Diggity did super well. He absolutely loves the pool and is a natural at dock diving. I think we have found our sport! This video is from today. I am working on my throws (timing, height, distance) and he is working on his tracking / catching the bumper. It is a blast!

That's awesome! I wish we had dock diving around here more regularly (sometimes it will be offered as a special event at a show, but there's no where nearby to practice regularly).

    Thank you!

I am trying to figure out where I can enter a few competitions around here. There are a few places, but not many. I read somewhere the sport is starting to take off, so hopefully we will see more facilities around the country.

What I recently learned is there are three main events: distance (which is what he is doing in the video), big air (where they jump way up to get a bumper that is connected to a device above the water), and speed racing (where they swim to the end of the dock and grab a bumper.) For now, I am focusing on distance. The trainer said big air is actually hard on their backs and since he is still a puppy (11 months), I want to be careful.

Lol! I know! I wish the video showed me at the end of the dock so I could see how I threw this one. The trainer said the throw was spot on because of his angle going out and into the water. My other throws were not quite where they needed to be and his trajectory was definitely affected. He is supposed to be more vertical than horizontal so he can get more distance. They measure distance where the base of the tail hits the water.
