    Grizz at his dog show...

Grizz went to a dog show this weekend. Small, but he did well.

He was the best boy there on Saturday which is called Winners Dog. He was also the best between the Winners Dog and the Winners Bitch, which they call "Best of Winners". He earned 2 more points towards his Champion title. Slow going but at least he's getting a few. They need 15 points to earn the title and 2 of the shows have to be big enough where he would earn 3 or more points (more labs, more points).

Sunday, he was Reserve Winners Dog, which is basically first runner up, using Beauty Pageant terms. Close, but not close enough. But still good.

I should have a photo to share in a few weeks.

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

Congratulations! Way to go team Grizz.

Can't figure out judges; I'd have chosen him before he even entered the ring, LOL.

Sue, only 4. My skills are not up to par with the professionals and while silly, there are just some judges who do not like chocolate. So it's hard!

What's funny is we went to the same show last year. I thought that we would do well on Sunday as the judge was known to like brown. Instead we won on Saturday and got 2 points and then got Reserve on Sunday with the judge I was sure would like him. So this year, the exact same thing happened. The Sunday judge gave him a reserve 2 years ago, I thought he might like him better this year as a mature dog. Instead the Saturday judge liked him more and the Sunday judge gave him Reserve again. I guess we'll see if he wins again next year! :floor

Congratulations, Jen & Grizz! Isn't it funny how that happens? We went to the show in St. Cloud in December with Mocha. It was a husband & wife team judging over the 2 days. I had never shown to either before but thought the husband's past record seemed to indicate he was ok with Chocolate, and I actually couldn't find any Chocolates the wife (who was judging that Sunday) had put up in the past. Wouldn't ya know that we got dumped that Saturday under the husband who we thought we'd do well under and got Winners under the wife who hadn't put up a "brown dog" in her life, LOL! I'll definitely take it, but it was, and still is, way too funny how that happened. Just another one of those "you never know what's going to happen at a dog show" things!

ETA: Just saw that your Saturday judge was Joe Gregory. He gave Faith an EXTREMELY hard earned BOW a few years back and I believe she is one of the very few Chocolates he has ever put up. Treasure that win for sure, Jen! It's very rare occasion indeed that Joe Gregory puts up a "brown dog"!
