After her injury and all the rehab, it was SO wonderful having her back in the Obedience ring for the All-Star Performance Dog Association tournament. She showed in two matches, and 3 rounds spread over 3 days so about as physically taxing as could be and her leg/foot held up great.
I had her in Open, which despite having her CDX, she is relatively inexperienced in (had only shown 6 times over 2 years, all with the A order) and she did wonderfully. Her only major hiccup was in one round they did an order where the Drop on Recall was first, which confused her a bit, and she stopped and stared at me but didn't drop, which cost her 30 points (I may have given the signal too fast given her confusion, so have to accept part of the blame). Had she dropped, she would have won the entire tournament as without that her scores were excellent - she had a 195.5 the first round with a no sit (handler error - I didn't cue it right so that cost her 3 points - she only lost 1.5 on everything else so would have had a 198.5); what would have been a 198 had she dropped, and an actual 198 on the last round when we finally put it all together.
I could care less about the woulda, coulda, shoulda aspect of it - I am just beyond thrilled that a) she was showing again and b) she showed herself capable of such high scores despite being VERY rusty and out of practice.
Now I really need to get showing again and start matching her in Utility - am excited to get her back out on the show circuit to see what she can do!

Yay, impressive scores. It's good to hear her injury cleared up so well that you and she can go back to doing what you excel at.

That is fantastic! She not only qualified to go to the tournament, she then gave an amazing performance, especially after all she has been through! You deserve to be thrilled!

A huge congrats is in order, despite not knowing about her injury, I'm happy to hear she is in the ring again giving other dogs a run for their money. Any chance will you be attending Lab Nationals this year?

I understand about Utility, and Pre Utility is so different. Isn't there another class, or Rally, or even Grad Nov or even Beginner Novice, into which she could go? The two of you are a good team. I believe you, or your daughter, did Rally with Mulder. Rules have not changed that much for a team used to heeling without talking: with Rally, you are not cheating if you are talking happy talk to them! There is also the CC etc. I bet her breeder would be thrilled if she got any new legs on any title. Just a thought.
