Thanks, all, for the input . Abby is two & has her CGC,RN,BSN & first leg towards her CD. She is the first dog that we are doing competitive obedience with and its not so easy. Sometimes it feels like its 1 step forward & 2 steps back. She has all of the Novice A routine down very well except for off lead healing ( NQed 3 times). We are going to start a precision healing class to see if this will improve her attention. She does however get bored with too much repetition, so we add a lot of "play" mixed in with her training. We also have started open classes which seem like more fun for her. Maybe we will try for our RA this winter? I'm not sure if Abby enjoys all these classes or would just rather stay home & curl up on my lap .

Our lab club (PSLRA) celebrates the All Around Lab, so it encourages members to put titles on their dogs. For the non-conformation bred Labs, there is a Versatility Award where you have to title in at least 3 different areas (obed, hunt test, tracking, agility, therapy...). Last I knew, the minimum qualifying titles are the original novice levels so CD, JH, etc for that though for the All Around a WC counts. They recently allowed RN to count too, though in all honesty, I think if you start your foundations relatively early, a 6-9 mo old could earn the RN. I may enter Kanzi in Rally Nov in ~2 mos if she doesn't turn into a mega brat by then, just as an experiment.
Anyhow, that's my roundabout way of saying there are SO many things you CAN do with a lab, that not many choose a career in Obed.

This is my 8 month old boy learning to heel. We've mostly been working in the field and we are a bit behind (he's also ALL legs and not so coordinated). But I love his energy, it will be a blast to show him.

labs are my breed of choice. They are excellent at most any sport you throw at them.
