I vote for rally. Bruce will be titled in no time!
on a beginner Rally class at Wilmington Kennel Club tonight. Was very informative, as I didn't really understand what Rally is. The Instructor was very knowledgable, and I enjoyed chatting with her. I was telling her about Bruce, and she also recommended we look at doing agility.
Honestly, Bruce can do about 75% of the Rally Novice behaviors right now. He's such a good dog, and he even amazes me how quick he learns new things. These classes are an hour drive one way, and I can't realistically do two classes a week there, so I've got to pick one. Since I have zero experience with either Rally or Agility, I have to ask the board members with experience. Which would you do? Keep in mind, I still plan on gundog training him. I spoke with his sires breeder about when to start him on that, and she said wait until he's at least a year old to start formal training, which goes against a lot of what others recommend, but she knows her lines, and I trust her recommendation. My friends also do not start formal training until they are at least a year old.
So, what say you!!!????

He is too young for full height agility but could do Novice rally at this age. The dogs learn it faster than we do!
Do Rally for now. Once he titles in Rally try the agility
I agree, rally now and agility after his growth plates have closed. You will both have a blast!
Will you be training at the Newark, DE center?

Yes. It's about an hour drive, and there is no other option close by. I did find another place in Newark - Academy of Dog Training and Agility / Swimming Paws Canine Swim Club - Newark, Delaware. I may go check them out too. The only drawback is they require a prep class before you can start anything else, and it's on Mondays which conflicts with Sophies CGC class for the next 7 weeks.
I think we will give Rally a try. What the heck, I'll be the only guy in the class!
It is a nice place to train, I bet you will both have a blast! I have a feeling Bruce will be the class favorite.

Absolutely, I'd give Rally a go! Rally is really nice in the way that the stations allow a pup to always have a different thing to do. They don't get bored as easily since it's not formal and light on joints since there's no jump at the Novice level. I think you'll both have fun!

You and Bruce will have a blast! And I bet you could easily get his RN and his RA before winter's over and its gundog training time!
editted to add, there is a jump in RA, so it would depend on his age then
