The eternal challenge of Obedience training

Figuring out whether your dog is confused or testing you. Had Chloe at an Obedience match today in Utility, and came to the realization that she actually knows Utility quite well, but that she was pretending to be confused when she just doesn't want to do something.

At first I was trying to help her through things by breaking them down into smaller pieces but then once I realized she was playing me I switched to giving her a firm correction and don't you know she was suddenly able to do the exercises perfectly?

Well played, Chloe, but I'm on to you now!!

Lol, smart little girl! I think they all have their days/times when they test us, just like kids.

    Little monkey.

We certainly are no where near your level. But when my Rally trainer asked why I was still pushing Oban back with a treat I thought it was because he didn't know how to walk backwards with me yet. She insisted I try just the hand signal, he did it perfectly and the whole class had a good laugh at me.

Know the feeling well. I'm such a pushover, had to put my big girl panties on. Archie is so dang smart and if I let him get away with something, he will try to get away by not listening again and again. When he realizes I'm serious, he's such a good boy. I call it his toddler mentality.
