    Chloe’s timing really stinks!

She is entered in 3 trials over the next 4 days.

This morning, she came into season a full month earlier than expected (which is still 12 months from the last time). We are planning on breeding her this cycle, but the intended baby-daddy is out being shown quite a bit up from now until Potomac as he is is very close to finishing his Grand CH. When he is at home he is only 45 minutes away, but I’m not sure yet where he’ll be when we need him (I have a call into the owner).

    AAACK!!!!

Now I am going to have to scramble to see if there are any shows (I know of at least 2, but I’d prefer at least one more) that we can get into between the time she comes out and the time she would most likely get too pregnant to jump in Utility, as I would really like to make progress on her UD prior to the pups arriving.

Why couldn’t she just have stuck to the schedule!

they do have their own timing, that usually conflicts with what you had planned based on YOUR timing, don't they?! friends are STILL waiting for their other girl to come in, as they are going to be listing house after pups are gone, and of course prime time to do that around here is early May...... I swear the girls know!

That's why they call them 'bitches'. LOL

She really cycles every 14 months? Wow that's a big range, I have one that goes about 9 months in between, the rest seem right on schedule at 6 months apart.

Try not to stress too much, the stud dog owner will know take care of their end, and will be dedicated to making the breeding happen, they can ship from the road and viola 'Boyfriend in a box' is on your door step (or vet's) curtesy of Fed Ex. Plus this will make a great story for the litter, and registered name ideas! It all works out, I have some great breeding stories!

I won't tell you what to do, but I go on serious lock down here once my girl that is intended to be bred is in heat. I know there will be a lot of stories about how everything was fine, but I have seen some horror stories too. Even the innocuous Kennel Cough can abort your litter, and there can be worse things than that at shows. You will have plenty of time to finish up Chloe's UD after her puppies. I know how much you are looking forward to this litter!

Let me know if you have any questions, and best of luck! :-)

Thanks! As it turns out “boyfriend in a box” may not work out ... he’s been heavily campaigned right now and apparently the stress is affecting his semen count. If she was younger and cycled more frequently, we might risk it, but both repro vets (ours and his) agree it’s too big a risk of missing. The fallback plan now is to use his father, who does go back to Mulder’s side, which was my main consideration. The original dog’s mother also goes back to Chloe’s mother’s side, which would have been nice to have, too, but I think it will still be a nice match. And the father is retired from showing (already has his GCH) and is nice and relaxed enjoying a life of siring litters so shouldn’t have the same stress related issues, LOL.

I’ve pretty much decided not to show her while she’s pregnant, but it is disappointing - it all would have been perfect if she could just have waited another month! She came in the first time at 18 months, and has been pretty much right on every 13 months up until now.
