Okay, so after posting I put the computer away and spent about 15 minutes practicing heeling on the left. It was really really frustrating at first because she is walks way far away from me on the left or walks behind me and tries to walk on my right. I don't have much of a hallway in my townhouse but we walked around and around the walls of the building over and over with the wall on her left so she had no where to go. Just like we did on the other side 2 years ago! haha.
When I had her sit in a heel she would roll way back and I lured her with a treat to come forward like CharlieBarkin advised and that worked pretty well and she was seemed like she was starting to understand. But almost every sit took two or three tries. I also worked on the "swing" command (she knows this on the other side) to try and get her to get into a heel position when there isn't a wall. The frustrating thing is that her butt would swing from pointing at the way out away from me to being slanted diagonal behind me the other way. I wish I could draw a diagram on here to show you. But we kept working on it and adjusting it so hopefully she begins to understand where and how she needs to sit.

She also told me chocolates were crazier than labs but black and yellows were much calmer so it was good I had a black one. haha! I told her the reason I think chocolates have that reputation (poor breeding when chocolates burst into popularity) and how I didn't think that was true anymore and she said that made a lot of sense and she said it was true for a lot of breeds actually. She told me someone in the training breeds and competes with their labs and that I should meet her. So maybe this lady isn't my favorite trainer but there might be other opportunities in other classes at the facility. I hope.
Yikes! Anyone involved with dogs should know that color has no correlation to temperament in a well bred dog of any breed. Glad you set her straight!
