Fall is here and Agility is Over for the Season

One more practice Saturday then we help pack up the field Things have been going really well in the last few months (since we increased to 2-3 training days a week). It's going to be a very long 6 months without anything though. I have two friends looking into options for something indoors but there isn't much (not big enough for us to use for agility or with appropriate flooring). I will greatly miss the fenced "play area" we used before/after practice haha.

How long do you take for down time? I may start looking at options even for just drills and such after a bit of a break (i get teh sense pen needs at least a few weeks off anyways).

But...in three weeks we start flyball classes. I was on the wall on taking them as Pen NEEDS something lower key (like Rally) to work on self control and such but oh well. why not flyball :P

Oh and one last dock diving weekend Nov 14-15!

We are lucky, we do not stop.

We have a trial this weekend, another in December. There is a huge AKC one in November but we aren't going to that one. I am not a huge fan of the AKC stuff. I looked and CPE has one more trial registered in Ontario this year in Barry, not sure how far you are from there.

However, we go year round and never stop. Hemi and i practice every Tuesday night and then every other Saturday.

I wish, then you could decide to take a break or not (and keep it short). we'll see if I can find at least some refreshers here and there.

i saw a cheap four hour seminar (with working spots) but she said the dogs have to be able to work while other dogs are working (in a fairly small space). I just don't want to waste my time if pen goes off visiting (it would really depend what's going on and the actual dogs) or have a dog come to her. We rarely work even two of us n class at once (we did last class and pen was ok but did go visit - at least she knew the dog and the handler - and the handler has to be SUPER EXITED to motivate her dog haha)

I'm hoping we find something. I have three jumps and hope to get some weaves to at least work that.

I built these for Hemi. Really easy to build. Cheap. They do the trick. The part that sticks out is on the opposite side of the weaves they go around so they do not trip on them. Also I didn't glue it so I can take it apart and I have a bag for one of those collapsible travel chairs, the whole weave set fits in there and I can take them with me.

thanks I would still need/want the ones that open up to work on some things but we'll see. I like the costco ones but curious how much cheaper it is to make (will see with the store we got the stuff for the jumps)

I just stuck rebar in the ground with a piece of shower curtain rod plastic cover over the tops. Fiddly to move at grass cutting time though, Jeff's would be much easier to move. Then again, the rebar and shower rod fit into my car better for going to a new place to practice and proof. Well in my car they did, I think Jeff drives a pick up?

i dont' have a car so they won't be travelling. a fellow agility student got the costco ones and likes there. good for 2x2.

my dad has looked at helping me with the "stick in the ground" version as well. But to me that's a pain as I have to "measure" out the distance eaach time no?

I made ones like Jeff too. I didn't glue the base together in a few spots so I could easily take it apart and store it

Yes, I had to measure each time I moved the rebar. But I already had a long stick I used to mark out spacing for planting in the garden so I used it. When we drove somewhere I took a tape measure.
