Maxx loves nosework and so do I! His trainer always tells him his talents are wasted and he should have been a drug sniffer, lol! We play it inside and outside. It is definitely great fun when the weather is cold, dark and yucky!
We tried nosework today! It was a lot of fun and Linus is a natural. He loved it! We also tried barnhunt and he did well, but was pretty tired toward the end. Here is a video of our second nosework turn. We'd taken an turn about 20 minutes earlier to show him what to do. By our second time, she had to begin challenging him.
I think I'll save it for when he's retired from obedience and field, but definitely something we can do inside when the weather is dark and nasty. It tires them out quickly. And finally something to do with all of those shoeboxes!

Sounds like fun! It's on my list of things to try Maybe next winter (or this spring before agility). Actually I should sign Rocky up for this, something up his alley
so many sports, so little time and money :P

Nosework is Tux's only sport, he is not an athlete but has an awesome nose. We do Barn Hunt and by his third trial he already had his Open title. We are taking a bit of a break but will start up again in January. One thing about Barn Hunt, especially once you get to the senior level the climbs are a lot higher, and I think he is getting a bit arthritic as he doesn't always want to climb up so high to find the rats. Sometimes I can tell they are up there though from how he acts on the ground, lol. I am right now training him to find deer sheds, and we will look for those on our property this winter.
