    2016 Dog Sport Goals

    HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Thought it would be fun to start a thread to hear everyone's dog sport goals, resolutions, projects, etc for 2016.

I'm still thinking about everything I'd like to do with my boys, and will post my goals soon.

So what do you hope to accomplish with your pups thus year?

I want to get Sophie at least a Rally Novice, maybe more depending on how she takes to training.

I would like to finish Senior Hunter and be running Master by the end of the season (next fall.) But I'd also like to have a Canine Good Citizen title as well.

I want Chloe to get her UD (hopefully in the spring) and then maybe some UDX legs and even OTCH points.

The puppies start formal classes this week. I don’t plan on showing them in 2016, but I’d like to have them well on the path.

I would like to get Rogue's JH early this year, and then get serious about more rally titles and traditional obedience. He turns 7 in January so not sure how much farther I want to go with him in hunt tests... we are excited about taking him bird hunting more though, with some training under his belt!

Monty (10 years old) usually gets out every Nov for my first club's specialty show, but I may enter him in some more specialty shows in veterans while I can. He is still incredibly sound and just loves to show.

Eddy (2.5 years now) comes back from Poland on the 16th (praying that everything goes smoothly) and will be shown by my friend in Mexico for his Mexican CH, and he will be bringing him to some specialty shows here in the US. Excited to get him back to start doing performance stuff with, but he's having a great time with all of his foreign friends and he LOVES to show. He now has a few European litters to watch grow, so that will be fun, too.

Would love to get a puppy to start working with now, since my youngest is going to be 3 in March... we shall see. I would also really like to get some smaller local training groups together and start attending my local agility classes again on Friday mornings (did these with Monty until I became too pregnant back in 2013) and obedience classes with my local obedience club.

I am not sure I can make it to four (or more) events this year to finish, but I plan to start Linus' JH title.

    Our obedience plans are...

    1. Polishing and further proofing to prepare for trialing in novice the following year.
    2. Finish training/proof/polish the drop on recall and broad jump for open.
    3. Not sure if we'll finish and be ready to proof *all* utility exercises this year, but we'll get closer than we are now!

Those are my plans. Not sure what Linus' plans are for 2016, but hopefully they parallel mine at least a little bit!

Probably should pick a breeder and a breeding as I want to get a puppy in 2017 or 2018.

hmmm....Scout turns 9 the beginning of March. I'd love love love to get his JH over the summer, but thats only going to happen if we get "Hold" understood. And if we're successful in finally "getting" the "Hold" concept, he will also be ready for Novice Intermediate, he's not ready for some of the Open things. And I'd like to complete his RAE 7, I think (will have to go back and check, I've so lost count) we're maybe at 4 legs toward it? so that may not happen this year, with trying to do the JH and the Novice Intermediate. And, really hoping for a pup this year. Still not sure if the one breeder is going to do a litter this year, and the other one I need to do a bit more research on both dogs. There are a bunch of really nice breeders within 5 hours, its just trying to find the "mix" of dog that will suit. Pup would come along to anything I was doing with Scout, just as early acclimatization to trials, tests, travel, etc. Could be a busy dog year!

Hope to get to some field trials this year with M. She will be running qual. In the spring we will start with completing her working certificates WCI and X. I like to do them as a warm up. Will get her into a least a couple of senior hunters. We will be hosting two so that should make life a little easier. I have a judging assignment in June Master on Saturday and JH/SH on Sunday. Haven't told my sister yet that she is judging with me. I am chair for a Field Trial in July so that should keep me busy.
Once the schedules of trials and tests are out will firm up the plans. This year I really want to put my attention on M.
