    Well there goes that money...

I figure everyone here can relate to throwing money away on a class/event :P

I mentioned we signed up for our first set of indoor agility classes to keep "fresh" during winter. First class was...interesting. she lost her shit when the other dogs ran (because it's indoors we are all sorta crowded next tot he obstacles). So we worked on attention/focus (aka don't lose yours hit) exercise and i was worried about her taking off after the other dogs when it was her turn so we worked up to that. By end of class things were better (and we were both exhausted).

That was three weeks ago. Pen started limping before the second class. at this rate I am HOPING to make the last class :P We had signed up for an evening workshop and I will likely email to cancel that now just to be safe (its' before her last class).

But thankfully this is not during peak season :P It sucks to lose my "partner" though. no running, no skiing, no long walks. I messed up and let her run too early (or wasn't careful enough with limited exercise) and she limped some last weekend so we are another two weeks out before slowly ramping up slowly... And she WILL go nuts at agility class so really best to not jump into that until she's released some of this pent up energy slowly :P

Aww boo! Poor Penny, hope she recovers quickly and can get back into action soon! Any way the facility would give you credit for the remaining classes and let you apply them for the next round of classes?

A bummer for both Penny and you. You're right keeping her limited in running/jumping so she can recover. While she has to be quiet, work on reinforcing watch me.

Well that really sucks but making sure Penny is completely healed before going back is the most important thing. You are such a great doggy mama!

You're doing the right thing by giving her the time to heal.

Sorry it happened because of injury to Penny. What if you went to the class alone? I know I learn a lot by watching the others and it's easier if I'm not watching my dog too. Yeah, the worst part is all the other things you can't do together while Penny heals.

Yeah I have been there. This summer when Hemi injured his shoulder we were 2 classes in to a 6 week session.

Ugh! That's the worst! I've missed a ton of classes, tests, trials and seminars due to injuries. It never gets easier! Hope she's up and running by the end of the session!

I figured this is something anyone who takes classes/competes has experienced

I finally emailed them to confirm I would at best be there for last class (and if that was ok given I missed four classes) and they suggested starting fresh with a new class (no fee). So that was incredibly nice of them (i would never ask for that - at best maybe a small discount would have made me happy). I said i'd love to but cannot commit until I know if she is better (obviously).

My plan is to let her run in the yard (IF it's not an icy mess) of her own free will on Sunday or Monday and see where things stand. so far so good but we are still on "no running around". she does jump up on off the couch and may "walk fast" when outside (I don't take her out on leash as she is mostly good about not running). I may book a tentative apt at the vet's "just in case" for next week. I put off going to the vet until we did a good two week rest period.
