I had Chloe out in Utility at a practice match today. It's only her 2nd or 3rd time doing Utility at a match, the first time outdoors, and the first time since she was injured back in November. Her physical therapist had asked me to video it as they wanted to see her running, jumping, etc. I had tried to send the file directly to them, but it was too big so I ended up uploading it to YouTube instead and thought since it was there, I would share the link here as well.
This was her first time in, and I didn't do much correcting as I mostly wanted to see what I had. The second time in we worked on the things like attention on signals, not coming forward on the sit on go-outs, and other stuff like that. Her trouble with the bar jump at the end, was not from a reluctance to jump - I think it was a visual problem where she had learned it indoors under fluorescent lighting and a black floor, and outdoors in the sunlight on grass the jump just didn't look familiar enough for her to be sure that's what she was supposed to be doing. She had no problems with either jump the second time in. And for the record, she held the stand for exam the second time - the first time, I think she thought the judge was just coming over to be friendly, LOL.
Here's the link for anyone who is interested: https://youtu.be/zL_tb2QG7Xg
So, she still has a ways to go before she'll be ready to show, but at least she shows no signs of problems from her injury!

She had a blast, didn't she? She looked good over the high jump! I think she is just rusty, as it has been many months since her injury and a long time since she had to be serious for so long in the ring. Thanks for sharing. I bet her breeder and Mulder's breeder would love to see this!

Looked darn good to me. A little polishing up and she'll ace it. Thing is, she's having fun and that's the important part.

Thanks so much for sharing. Loved to see you two work together. Kind of looked really good to me too, considering the down time with the injury. Understand what were were saying about the visual problem with the bar jump. But she did it in the end.

That is so amazing, thanks for sharing. I've never seen one of those events before and it was a great learning experience for me! It makes me want to go out and work on heel and stay with Daisy love it! So is this type of event called rally?

Rally is set up similar in that it has a blocked off space and you are told to do commands, but it is different in that there are 'stations' where you are told what to do on a sign and you must follow the order of the signs. Annette and Chloe are doing Obedience work, where the judge is giving them the directions. Obedience is more rigid than Rally, but Obedience can be really fun, just like here in the video with the jumps and things.

She looked great! Locally most of the dogs in our shows are Goldens, so it's really refreshing to see a nice Labrador doing Utility!
