I tried agility with my 5 year old lab..

I took Cooper to a festival where they had a small agility course and thought it would be the perfect place to test him our with agility… its clearly not his thing! lol

    Does your dog do agility?

that's lure coursing, Penny went NUTS for that (it was the same company, same set-up mostly) Many dogs didn't get it but pen was like OMG GET IT GET IT GET IT GET IT we can't wait to try it again.

I wouldn't say at all that your dog isn't meant for agility, that's lure coursing and there is no training to get them to be comfortable with anything. Any dog can do agility and they get different things out of it

Rocky did a few rounds of agility (he was no speed demon but it was fun and he humoured me for food). Penny has been at it two years and we may start competing this year, we're hooked

Me too, that's chasing a lure. Might be an idea for agility but usually you introduce the dog to one station at a time. Looks to me that was distracting to him. Did any dogs get hold of the lure? Then what happens?

I did agility with Jet. We have some ribbons from trials but I could not keep up with the training and we quit. Oban is the only dog I know who would rather jump over something than go under or around it. For both, different trainers, we taught one obstacle at a time.

We were only able to do lure coursing a few times but Kimber flipped over it. She had a strong prey drive and this fed it big time. She would get so excited, I'd have to have DH hold her. She'd pull me out of the line, trying to skip ahead of all the other dogs because OMG WE MUST CHASE IT.

Your video looks like there were a lot of other distractions. Took me a little while to get figure out it wasn't agility because the tire was there, and it was a small space. Cooper may have been similarly confused.

One even we go to every year, a lab rescue event, brings in lure coursing and it's amazing the different breeds to absolutely love it. Talk about over the top excited labs! Looks like it was a fun try with the combo of lure and agility.

that was the pet expo at Bingemans the other weekend- i didnt get there, but a few friends did. They had an outside lure course at the place Scout goes for daycare or boarding, he LOVED it, i signed him up every time he was there, but i don't think they're doing it anymore. They sent me a video of him, hilarious! and yes, he routinely "caugth" the lure
