Anne Arundel Co, Maryland play groups/ dog parks

Just wondering if there are any lab play groups in Anne Arundel, specifically close to Pasadena. Also, does anyone know of any dog parks close to Pasadena that are fenced in? My dog is a RUNNER!

There is one in Annapolis, which of course I can't remember the name. I haven't been to that one, but several people have told me about it and there is also water for them to go into.

Oh, I just remembered the name (I think) Quiet Waters Park.

Pasadena!!!!! You're in my town!
Downs Park has a dog beach but it's not fenced in. You have to go down a bunch of steps to get to it - so most dogs don't leave especially when playing.

Broadneck Park (near Anne Arundel Community College) has a dog park that is fenced.
Also, Quiet Waters in Annapolis has a dog park and beach (haven't been to this one - I hear it's nice though)

A $20.00 pass will get you into Downs and Quiet Waters through December 31 (or $4.00 each time)

No fee for Broadneck Park

just back from Quiet Waters!

Took Lizzy to Quiet Water's Park today...what a great park! There is a very large fenced in dog park and then a short walk on paved trails and then down some stairs and you're at the doggy beach! We all had a blast and Lizzy is now resting happily! She was so good at the doggy beach, that we may try Downs Park. She didn't run because she was so occupied with playing in the water!

The park in Howard County is off Route 103. If you take Route 100 to Long Gate Road (last exit before you hit 29) go thru 2 lights and that is 103. Make a right and go down a mile or two and make a left on NEW CUT ROAD. VERY WINDY (part of Patapsco State Park leading into downtown Ellicott City). Take your first right turn and the park is on the left.

It is 2.7 acres fenced, running water to fill dog bowls, smaller fenced area for small dogs. It is a nice place for the dogs. Everyone is friendly and plays with other dogs, not just their own.

Both parks sound great! lizzy'smom - Glad you all had fun at Quiet Waters.

Amazing what a little distraction will do for our little runaways. My pups are both young but so far they've been good at Downs even though it's not fenced on all sides. I do hold onto them or try to distract them when a dog is leaving. Wouldn't put it past them to try and leave with a new playmate.

Tanner's Mom...You should try to get to Quiet Waters at least once this summer! It's a little bit of a drive (took us about 30 min) but it was a blast! I'm going to try Downs Park too! What days are the busiest there so I can take her then and she will be too distracted to run?! Thanks for the info!

Unhappy

I would love to go to Quiet Water, but I have an Annapolis phobia. I haven't taken that drive from here since rushing Storm to the emergency vet and she died in my car on the way. I just can't seem to head that way since then. It will be 2 years in November.

I bet Storm would be wagging her tail if she knew how much fun you were having at Quiet Water's Park with Katie. As sad as that ride may be on the way to Annapolis, I promise you'll have a smile on your face on your return ride. Go on a nice weekend and Katie will be the happiest dog!

Quiet Waters Park is a great park. I take my lab Mackenize there a few times a month from Baltimore.

Katie's Mom - We are very sorry for your loss. I know how you feel about driving to an area that ALL you have is an empty feeling so maybe WE can help do something about it for you.

Maybe by going a different route we can trick your senses into thinking it's a whole different place (97 instead of Ritchie Hwy or vise versa (sp?). Once you've been there and enjoyed a wonderful day you'll have some pleasant memories of your visit and as lizzy'smom said you'll probably leave with a smile on your face. Maybe it would be a step towards healing some of your grief.

If you feel up to it we should all take a trip to Quiet Waters together or ................... to the Howard County park or Downs park.

With two puppies a trip anywhere is an adventure for me.

What days are good for everyone?

lizzy'smom - I really haven't been to Downs enough to know a good schedule with two dogs and two kids we're pretty spontaneous here. It's actually a small enough beach that you don't want it too crowded. We are going to try to go later today. I'm sure my two ("lack of manner puppies") would be more than enough of a distraction.
