Hi all,
I have a one year old chocolate named Zuni. She has so much personality and is my baby. I’ve been reading this site for tips on training to food for nearly two years now. So I know I’m posting this in the right place.
My sister in Michigan (I’m in GA) purchased a male black lab from a VERY good line. From what I can tell it’s from a champion blood line. Only they didn’t realize just what they were getting in to with a puppy as opposed to their mellow old guy that had just passed. So, he’s 100 lbs of board brains and muscle. He needs some training and some serious love. He actually comes up to the back door and “asks to come in” when they open the door to let him in he gives them a lick (tag you’re it!) and runs away. He's just begging for attention!!! He’s very good with kids, very gentle. But no training what so ever. I will be going up over Christmas; she said if I didn’t take him they would put him down! I only have a very small house and I’m afraid it’s just too small for two big dogs. I’d love to have him but I feel I wouldn’t be able to devote the time he needs. I believe they’d give him to a good home that would love him.
Please, if you are interested contact me. Or if you know of any one in the Michigan or Georgia area that might be interested send them this way.

No offense to you, but I cant believe that your sister would just put the dog to sleep, just like that!!! That is terrible!!!! I just dont understand how she could do that!???

Maybe she should have thought about this before she got the dog.

What about giving the dog to a NO KILL SHELTER?????
That would be a much better option.

Please let me know what happens.

Zuni, I must say, you are very brave for posting the words you did. I am not going to judge you for your sisters actions (we all know we don't always agree with the siblings)..but I am totally beside myself that she would put the dog down. She wouldn't just put one of her kids down, now would she!

Just my :2cents: of madness, but she should look for an agency that does foster/adoption, no kill shelter or go back to the breeder! My breeder takes back ALL dogs she has produced NO MATTER WHAT.

Zuni,
Have you tried convincing your sister to send her dog to a no-kill shelter? Or to a rescue organization?
I did a web search for rescue groups in Michigan.. this is what I found:
http://www.petfinder.org/shelters/MI122.html
to www.michigananimalrescueleague.org
http://www.ddc.com/rescue/topdog/
http://www.accn.org/~adoptpet/
www.michiganallpetrescue.org

Hope those help..

If I could afford to get him here, he'd have a home with us. We already have five....what's one more?

If I were you, I'd go ahead and take him and then take the time to find him a good forever home. At least you'd save him from his current fate. Think of it as a foster situation, perhaps?

that is terrible - i cannot belive she would put him to sleep! if he is from a champion blood line it shouldnt be hard at all to give him away - she should try a listing on craigslist.org - its free & i see people list free dogs in the pets section all the time.

there is also an adoption thing on saturdays at petsmart.

I am looking for a lab mix to live with me and my 2yrs. lab mix gal. I am in south florida, so if you can't find anyone in your area I may be able to help. I was not looking for a prue bread dog, just, a baby that needed help. Email me if you need to at jonad1@aol.com
