My puppy is currently eating 2 times a day of 1 3/4 cups of dry food. It seems that she is very hungry still. The vet said that it was a little much but told me to leave it where it was. Should I be feeding her more? I was thinking more like 3 times a day of 1 1/2 cups each time.

Anybody remember what they were feeding at 10 weeks? I dont want her to be overweight, but I dont want her to be hungry.

Thanks.

My vet said to feed my 8 week old 3 times a day 1/2 cup each time. said she didnt want him to grow too fast possibly causing problems witht he joints etc.
I was feeding him more before i went to the vet. He still eats it all like there was no tomorrow.

I fed Dixie 3/4 3x a day, but it does depend on the food for quantity. You should feed your pup 3x a day at this age and switch off that around 6 months. They have quick digestion. Also if you are feeding kibble, you should add water and let it soak. Labs are prone to bloat and kibble will absorb the water in their stomach.

And for house breaking, what goes in must come out!

Louie was fed 3x a day and still is at 5 mos. We based it off of the food bag. He was at about 1 1/2 a day at 10 weeks. The amount definitely varies by the quality of food. And, Louie always looks hungry and eats with a vengeance at meal time. He'd probably eat whatever we gave him...

I think you definately want to feed 3x a day...large breed dogs can get bloat, and it doesn't help if they gilp their food all at once.
I fed Hudson 1 1/2 cup 3x a day at this age. He was active and whatever he ate was worked off quickly.

Most people do 3 meals a day until around 5 months. We started with 1/2 cup at each meal and when we moved her to 2 meals, she was actually eating about 1 1/4 c. at each meal.

When feeding 3x / day, what times did you feed your pup?
Thanks.

My pup is now 12 1/2 weeks old. When we picked him up at 8 weeks, the breeder said to feed him 3x's a day but to change to 2x's a day at 10 weeks. We changed him at that time. Seems to be doing well.

At 10 wks we fed our BC pup 1-1.5 lbs raw a day, split up into 2 or 3 feedings.
At 12 weeks we still feed the same amount, now we feed no more than 2x a day.

we have had our pup a week now. i feed him at 8am, 2pm, and 8pm. 1/2 cup each time.
ths dog in one week has got it timed. 15 minutes before its feeding time he knows and is waiting (not patiently) by the corner where i keep his food. he's insane....when he is done eating he looks for more like whatever i give him is never enough. But i wont fall into the trap of thinking that i didnt feed him enough or else i will soon have an overweight dog.
