View Full Version : 2 yellow lab pups at MAS Shaqpuppy 03-29-2005, 08:54 PM Any takers? Dani? I know you have people looking for pups! http://community.webshots.com/photo/296979725/309186507BKfZdd Dani 03-30-2005, 04:22 AM I'm going to talk to Deneen and see if we can't spring these gals. autumnsmom 03-30-2005, 06:18 AM I can help Dani are you taking them in? You know my story right now I can't. I'll contact my friend now to make sure they are still there, if she can adopt and get a foster, you let me know where they need to get to. autumnsmom 03-30-2005, 06:21 AM Sent her an e-mail. If she can't help I'm sure Jeanne from RAOT would but I'd rather try my volunteer friend that sprung Judee first. Dani 03-30-2005, 06:30 AM Deneen...get me the info and I will see what can be done from my end. LindaAcup 03-30-2005, 06:58 AM This is such a difficult shelter to work with, isn't it? I don't know why.....good luck you girls!!! Let me know if I can help in any way (except take them.......I'm sticking to my guns until 6/1 :)) autumnsmom 03-30-2005, 04:44 PM I left a message for my friend at home. I'll let you know as soon as I hear from her. autumnsmom 03-30-2005, 06:17 PM Right know all I know is one of them was adopted today..not sure if it is the male or female. I'm trying to find out how much time they have. With MAS the old way it could be any day but the new director is really trying hard to make changes and it hold all highly adoptable animals as long as he possibly can. Dani 03-30-2005, 06:24 PM well that is good news for one of them at least. Keep me posted. :) autumnsmom 03-30-2005, 06:33 PM female adopted still waiting on time limit for male and if we can pull him out. autumnsmom 03-31-2005, 08:47 AM Heard from my volunteer friend. Male is still available. She said she is having trouble finding available foster homes but is going to call around. She suggested we try Jeanne w/RAOT she doesn't normally have any trouble w/fosters. We can wait to see if my friend can find a foster. Or Dani you can complete a homeward bound application with RAOT, use me as a reference I s/w Jeanne and Judee was her first post for the new web site in Happy Tails so she is familiar with my name. I don't think we should let what happen with the choc lab sour us on trying to help. From what I'm hearing things are improving daily at MAS?? But being in PA I can't say for sure. You need to have some pretty solid transport information before you apply. I contacted Catherine from ACME to see if she is able to coordinate. Let me know what you think. He will need neutered prior to transport so he wouldn't be traveling until next weekend at the earliest. autumnsmom 03-31-2005, 09:22 AM ARGGHH my friend Nancy just alerted me to the yellow girl...already spayed. Any thoughts on her, adults are always more urgent. http://community.webshots.com/photo/298171569/310312336WroSMo Dani 03-31-2005, 10:25 AM Shoot. She's a doll.... What are your thoughts? autumnsmom 03-31-2005, 11:02 AM Nancy could pull and find a place to board but that will cost more. She is going to try to find out more about the yellow female adults temperment. If Nancy could not help me I would try RAOT again myself....it wasn't Jeanne I had the bad experience it was the shelter and that happens every where. And it is better than letting them get PTS, at least I'd know we played all of our cards. I have one other connection TN let me see how close she is to MAS. Dani 03-31-2005, 11:03 AM Okay...I will trust your opinion....do they know anything about her history? Labfan 03-31-2005, 02:14 PM Hi I just phoned Jeanne and we talked for quite a while. Things are continuing to improve at MAS. The shelter didn't even have a sign up, and the new director had a big sign made to place outside the shelter. The director makes a point of chatting with and patting the dogs, and when Jeanne talks to him about a dog at MAS, he knows which one she means right away, as he knows their dogs. Jeanne said that the y lab adult spayed female is available now and seems like a nice dog. Jeanne just took in a mother beagle mix and her pups that someone had abandoned on the side of the road. She has a rescue coming for them on Sunday. We talked more about the chocolate lab pup situation. I said that at first I thought maybe there was a mixup and the choc lab pup was euthanized accidentally, and only questioned the fact that the pup was found dead in his cage, because of my past experiences with some shelters, with mixups and accidental euthanizations. We talked about the fact that when Jeanne adopts a dog for a rescue, a card is placed in a slot on the dog's cage that has Jeanne's name on it, so it was not a mistake with the chocolate pup. Jeanne said that it is possible that is why the chocolate lab pup appeared shy, because he was sick. I told Jeanne we are discussing the y labs at MAS on this board, and that she might end up getting an adoption app on them. She said that the 2 y lab pups (one of which was adopted) are going to be big, and are big for their age. Jeanne said most of the labs around the area are field types, around 60 lbs, but she estimated that the y lab pups pictured at the MAS site are going to be around 80 lbs as adults. -Marion Lindsay mariontl@telus.net Labfan 03-31-2005, 06:09 PM http://image38.webshots.com/39/1/23/36/310312336WroSMo_ph.jpg I talked on the phone today to Jeanne Chancellor, president of RAOT. I did mention this y lab female, spayed,to Jeanne, and I told her she might end up getting an adoption application from a rescue on this board, because rescues have been discussing the y lab pup on here, and the adult y lab spayed female. Jeanne said that the adult y lab female seemed like a nice dog, and that it is available now. I am sure Jeanne could temperament test her for you, and would be happy to adopt her for a rescue. It is not difficult to adopt a dog from MAS (Memphis Animal Shelter) through RAOT. I already applied through RAOT on behalf of my brother's family, to adopt a yellow lab/husky pup them. Jeanne adopted the pup from Memphis Animal Shelter on our behalf, and fostered him for over a month, because he had kennel cough. She then put him on the plane for us, where we met him here in Vancouver BC Canada. Miko is a wonderful pup, and is much loved and spoiled by my brother's family. Jeanne and I talked a bit on the phone today about the choc lab pup that was found dead in his cage, the one that Deneen applied to adopt from Memphis Animal Shelter, through RAOT. We discussed the fact that when Jeanne adopts a dog for a rescue, a card is placed in a slot on the dog's cage, with Jeanne's name on it. The pup was not accidentally euthanized. I did question it at first when I heard the dog was found dead in the cage, but I now know from talking to Jeanne and trading emails, that the pup was sick. Please, do not hesitate to ask for Jeanne's help in adopting a dog from the Memphis ANimal Shelter for you. Here are the links below: http://www.raot.org/hoverbuttons.htm Here below is the link to the Homeward Bound Adoption information and Application. The Homeward Bound Application is what you fill out if you are a rescue out of the area that wishes to adopt a dog from Memphis Animal Shelter. After you have filled in the form, phone and email Jeanne, president of RAOT, and state the dog's I.D. # in all communication. http://www.raot.org/rescue/hbp_new_060504.htm Marion Lindsay mariontl@telus.net LindaAcup 04-06-2005, 01:29 AM What happened with these please? Labfan 04-07-2005, 03:59 AM http://community.webshots.com/album/296979725JSKrnM According to the above link, the male y lab pup and the adult y lab female are still available, and are in the adoption section. -Marion mariontl@telus.net autumnsmom 04-07-2005, 05:22 AM I think we left it as Dani or whomever interested would have to apply via RAOT. Jeanne, as Marion mentioned, would temperment test once the application was received. Nancy, my volunteer friend, has no available foster homes. She runs a Dal rescue and they are full. She could adopt and board if necessary but boarding would be extra $. Dani 04-07-2005, 06:58 AM Oh, I must have misunderstood. I thought the female was taken and we were waiting on someone else that you knew Deneen. I will go fill out a RAOT app right now. Labfan 04-07-2005, 11:31 AM The female y lab pup was adopted. The male y lab pup was not adopted. (That is the 2 pups pictured together) Then there is a female adult y lab spayed that is still there also, according to the website which I looked at in the wee hours of the morning today. They are in the adoption area at the website. Unfortunately, as we all know, it just never ends. I noticed they have a couple of black labs and a chocolate lab and a neutered m y lab at MAS (Memphis Animal Shelter) right now, in the stray section. http://community.webshots.com/album/296979725JSKrnM http://community.webshots.com/photo/315645876/315892766dHZzTz This chocolate lab amle only 6 mths old is due out on the 8th April and is in the "stray" section: http://image36.webshots.com/36/9/27/66/315892766dHZzTz_ph.jpg chocolate lab - due out 4/8 in stray area cage 557 - 129387 - chocolate lab - m - 6m - due out 4/8 http://community.webshots.com/album/315645876FeSBGO This black lab female 2 yrs old pictured below is due out today: http://community.webshots.com/photo/311556138/312075456nDHOqd http://image36.webshots.com/37/7/54/56/312075456nDHOqd_ph.jpg lab - due out 4/7 known owner in stray area cage 563 - 129334 - lab - f - 2y - due out 4/7 known owner Here below is a neutered male y lab 4 yrs old due out April 7th. http://community.webshots.com/photo/311556138/312074082RJrVfF lab - due out 4/7 in stray area cage 509 - 129332 - lab - m/n - 4y - due out 4/7 http://image46.webshots.com/47/7/40/82/312074082RJrVfF_ph.jpg THere is a dog listed as a lab mix, due out April 9th: http://image30.webshots.com/31/4/7/20/316540720IWPQdI_ph.jpg lab x - due out 4/9 in stray area cage 564 - 129403 - lab x - m - 2y - due out 4/9 http://community.webshots.com/photo/315647526/316540720IWPQdI -Marion mariontl@telus.net Shantis Mom 04-07-2005, 11:39 AM OMG they are all so beautiful - Lisa where are you? MISS LISA 04-07-2005, 12:11 PM I cant open those links.. Kathy... which ones was the one you sent me? The choco- what is the story on that one? I know this thread is long, but can someone recap me real quick on that one? When is his/her last day? Temperment or any other info? I will take him if he is UTD and does well with other dogs. Shantis Mom 04-07-2005, 12:14 PM I sent you all 4 pics - the first was the 6 month old choco MISS LISA 04-07-2005, 12:15 PM Okay.. yeah.. thats what I thought. Does anyone know what the deal is with him? I am at work, cannot spend TOO much time starting intently at the screen, so I keep popping in and out.. and I am on eternal hold with our coporate office, so I can't make any calls right now- can anyone get more info, on how we can possibly pull him and maybe another and get him/them out here? Shantis Mom 04-07-2005, 12:16 PM Let me pm Dani for you Shantis Mom 04-07-2005, 12:19 PM Or I will try and find Labfan MISS LISA 04-07-2005, 12:20 PM What is the deal with the shelter? Are they difficult to work with? Maybe I can pull the choco boy and maybe that black female..?? Are they scheduled to be PTS today??? Labfan 04-07-2005, 12:40 PM Hi Miss Lisa Marion Lindsay here (Labfan). The chocolate lab is in the stray section and so is the black lab. The black lab female is due out today and the chocolate lab is due out tomorrow the 8th April. My suggestion is to fill out the online adoption form (Homeward Bound Application) with RAOT (Responsible Animal Owners of TN) . Jeanne Chancellor is the president. I filled out the Homeward Bound form in order for RAOT to adopt a y lab/husky pup for my brother's family. Jeanne was wonderful. SHe pulled the pup, fostered him a month at no charge, and when he was clear from his kennel cough, she put him on a plane for us to Vancouver BC CANADA. MAS has improved under the new director, and Jeanne has a very good relationship with the director. After you fill out the Homeward Bound form, you need to phone Jeanne to follow up, and also email her, and include the dog's ID # in all communication. Jeanne can go to the shelter to make an assessment of the dog/s for you. Here are the links to RAOT: http://www.raot.org/ http://www.raot.org/hoverbuttons.htm RAOT Homeward Bound Adoption Form : http://www.raot.org/rescue/hbp_new_060504.htm Marion mariontl@telus.net MISS LISA 04-07-2005, 12:41 PM Okay.. so I fill that out and fax it to Jeanne? How can I get a hold of her to have her put a hold on them? I am off to lunch- and you guys are three hours ahead of me? Shantis Mom 04-07-2005, 12:48 PM Her phone number is on the ap I just faxed you Labfan 04-07-2005, 12:56 PM I just phoned Jeanne and she was enroute somewhere in her car. She said she didn't think that the female b lab, in stray section, 2 yrs old, would be put to sleep today. (She is due out today) I told Jeanne that Lisa is interested in having the chocolate lab 6 mths old and b lab female 2 yr old pulled. Jeanne said to have Lisa fill out the Homeward Bound form, and she will check out the 2 labs at the shelter. Here again is the Homeward Bound adoption application form, (below)which rescues also need to fill out if wanting RAOT to pull a dog from MAS. A card goes on the cage with Jeanne's name on it, as soon as she has adopted the dog for a rescue. It is then spayed/neutered and shots given before leaving the shelter. http://www.raot.org/rescue/hbp_new_060504.htm RAOT CONTACTS: Email: Jeanne Chancellor (RAOT PRESIDENT) at mingostar@aol.com H: (901) 761-0845 C: (901) 490-9018 Donna Malone. We will hear tomorrow afternoon :D The boy is shy and the girl is VERY friendly. Before they are released, they are fixed and all shots are updated. The $50 fee covers this. MISS LISA 04-07-2005, 02:04 PM Thank you SO much Sarah.. Sorry to be such a pain. So.. from what I gather, Sarah is going to call again at 11am tomorrow - and we will know then if they are coming out here. We need to see if we have any board members in the area that can go get them and foster them until we can get them shipped out here. Any ideas? I know we will probably end up posting a thread in Gen Chat.. but just thought I'd throw it out here too.. Sarah, you are awesome!! :bounce: Labfan 04-07-2005, 02:05 PM Hi Sarah Good news that they are both safe :) I presume that you are with the same lab rescue as Lisa, in Nevada? Keep us posted. -Marion mariontl@telus.net Sarah 04-07-2005, 02:05 PM Hey, right back attcha :) Sarah 04-07-2005, 02:06 PM Marion, I am the Boston connection of the Las Vegas Rescue :) MISS LISA 04-07-2005, 02:06 PM Yep, Sarah is a member of LVLR- she is in Boston, but as you can see, helps out from all the way on the other coast! :3dance: I can't wait to hear if we get them or not.. like I said, I have a guy looking for a choco male around 6 months of age, so this one would be perfect!! jackyscott 04-07-2005, 02:54 PM Wow - just caught up with all this. I hope it all works out. I'd love to see pictures of the two - webshots is a definate no no and blocked at work. You are all AWESOME!!!! MISS LISA 04-07-2005, 02:56 PM Jacky.. I will forward you them from my email. Kathy had to email them to me. Dani 04-07-2005, 02:57 PM Good work guys! abbychick 04-07-2005, 03:05 PM You guys are amazing!!! You step away from the board for a couple of hours and look what happens. I hope everything works out. I can't wait to see more pics of these darlings. Congrats Sarah and everyone else on all your hard work!! :) autumnsmom 04-07-2005, 03:31 PM Another OMG!!!! FABULOUS!! Thank you all of you for caring so much, I'm proud to be a member her I truly am!! MISS LISA 04-07-2005, 03:32 PM Deneen- I just PMed you.. if you get a chance.. can you help me? :) autumnsmom 04-07-2005, 03:37 PM Absolutely Miss Lisa if I can I will. MISS LISA 04-07-2005, 04:07 PM Thanks so much.. I will talk to you again online from home tonight if you are around. I guess we'll just have to wait and see tomorrow if we even can get them. autumnsmom 04-07-2005, 06:18 PM I s/w Nancy she'll do whatever she can. Still has no open foster space. I'm sure boarding is an option if they are adopted in your behalf. That would be one long drive. Are you planning on getting a transport together Lisa or flying them in? The transport coordinator I know isn't confident she has enough connections out west to get a drive that long together she is will to help but nervous. I can contact other members of ACME to see what they think. Let me know. Sarah 04-07-2005, 06:52 PM I think that would be a really good start Autumnsmom (Name please, I hate handles!) I don't know Acme Transport too well. But once we find out if Lisa is getting the pups, we have to get together a transport and if not, go to plan B. And I would like to say that this is ALL Lisa...I just made some phone calls and filled some forms. She's the one on the left: :goodbad: MISS LISA 04-07-2005, 07:08 PM LOL! Sarah.. you are mostly responsible for saving them. You made the call. :) Deneen, yeah, we will have to wait till tomorrow to see if we are even going to get them. (If they arent adopted out) If so, Kathy (ShantisMom) I believe offered to pay boarding. If she can't, by all means we will. So, if we do get them, if she can go pick them up and keep them at her place until we can get someone out there to put them on a flight. Or would your friend be willing to do that as well? I am trying to find SOMEONE that can transport them- even if we can just get them transported to a board member who can foster them until they can ship out here. (Via flight) - We have PLENTY of board members here in TX, CO, AZ and UT. I am sure if she can use HER contacts to start us.. we can get people on here to pick up the rest... Thats the first route we need to go, I think. What do you all think? MISS LISA 04-07-2005, 07:11 PM Also.. I am out of work as of next Tuesday - so the week after girls weekend, is ALL open for me, so I can drive anyday during the week. :) MISS LISA 04-07-2005, 07:39 PM Also.. the yellow lab girl on page 2- that was supposedly "adopted" - I guess isn't. Deneen sent me an email asking about her.. so Sarah filled out another form for HER. We will hopefully be able to get all three of them out here. Sarah 04-07-2005, 07:39 PM Looks like we are pulling the yellow girl too!!! Do we know the cage # for her? I want to get the details correct before filling the application again. LindaAcup 04-07-2005, 07:42 PM OK, I admit I HAVEN'T read the entire thread, but is this the Memphis shelter? If it is, be very careful girls.......if not, good job :). MISS LISA 04-07-2005, 07:54 PM Yeah, this the Memphis shelter.. why do we need to be careful- The girl Jeanne seemed VERY helpful... Sarah 04-07-2005, 08:00 PM Linda, give us the dirt! Sarah 04-07-2005, 08:15 PM Form filled out for the yellow 2yo girl! Calling tomorrow morning :) autumnsmom 04-07-2005, 08:21 PM e-mails sent.....transport help enlisted......paws crossed!! LindaAcup 04-07-2005, 08:21 PM No, I'm sure Jeanne is super. I just know lots of dogs have ended dead right before they were to be pulled.....remember the little choco? I had heard similiar stories, so if ANYTHING happens this time, I'd give em h*ll........hopefully not, I heard they had a new manager or something, but I haven't had any luck with them, let's just say that.......go for it girls, just watch the actual shelter itself closely....I think it's big and things happen, kinda like 1 person doesn't know what the other is doing......that sort of thing. Please keep me posted, too. You 2 are an amazing due!!!! :) MISS LISA 04-07-2005, 08:23 PM Thanks Deneen.. I just emailed you back. :) Thanks for the heads up, Linda. :) Sarah, I definately think we should keep on top of the shelter. We need to call Jeanne FIRST thing and keep on this until we know they are out of there and in a boarding facility, until we can get someone to transport. LindaAcup 04-07-2005, 08:26 PM Thanks Deneen.. I just emailed you back. :) Thanks for the heads up, Linda. :) Sarah, I definately think we should keep on top of the shelter. We need to call Jeanne FIRST thing and keep on this until we know they are out of there and in a boarding facility, until we can get someone to transport. That's exactly what I mean......good thinking Lisa. Keeping fingers & paws crossed here, too. Just call and tell them all the same thing over and over.....ya know, the squeaky wheel gets the oil!! :) MISS LISA 04-07-2005, 08:27 PM LOL! That sounds like something Sarah and I can do.. you know how squeaky we both are!!! :) Sarah 04-07-2005, 08:35 PM I'm the Squeaky QUEEN! ;) Deneen, what if we get a transport set up to Texas and we goad some of the board members into helping transport from there? Or at least, we know our friends here can do an airport run for us! It may be easier to do TN to TX, than TN to LV. MISS LISA 04-07-2005, 08:37 PM VERY good point. We need to start asking some of our Dallas members.. since that is the most northeastern city. autumnsmom 04-07-2005, 08:46 PM TN to TX shouldn't be a problem!! I'm sure the great acme members could definately put together a 400 to 500 miles transport no sweat... Sarah 04-07-2005, 08:51 PM Why don't we aim for that? I think we will have better luck with Acme on that one, and better luck with TX to LV on this board! What do you all think? MISS LISA 04-07-2005, 08:55 PM Then should we try to get a TX to LV one on here? Should we get it started - just in case? MISS LISA 04-07-2005, 08:58 PM We would need Texas Members..NM members... AZ members.. Here is the mapquest http://www.mapquest.com/directions/main.adp?go=1&do=nw&un=m&cl=EN&ct=NA&rsres=1&1y=US&1a=&1c=dallas&1s=tx&1z=&2y=US&2a=&2c=las+vegas&2s=nv&2z=+ LindaAcup 04-07-2005, 09:01 PM Don't forget to check the people here that have volunteered for transports, too. Also, if I were you (just a suggestion) check with Lab Rescues in those states, sometimes they can do a lot for you, too. :) MISS LISA 04-07-2005, 09:02 PM Good advice.. :D Sarah 04-07-2005, 09:13 PM I just went through the entire Volunteer thread and nobody lives in Arizona, or New Mexico that has volunteered. Pam (Bowman and Chancie's mom) lives in Dallas, though. What are the chances of arranging a 3lab flight from Dallas? Looks like a road transport is going to be difficult. MISS LISA 04-07-2005, 09:15 PM Maybe they don't know that section is there. We have a few AZ members, and I want to say I've seen a few NM ones. Worse case, we can bring it thru TX, to CO Springs.. J&J are there.. then we have plenty of people to get them thru CO into Utah and down to us - it would be a little farther, but might be worth it. I know there are like 3 members from AZ that post pretty regularly.. we'd probably have to put it in Gen Chat. Also.. there are TONS of other Texas members that didn't post in there..that might be able to help. Sarah 04-07-2005, 09:17 PM Lisa, why don't you start up a thread? MISS LISA 04-07-2005, 09:18 PM What should I ask for.. just someone in Dallas that would be willing to overnight and then start a transport from there? Should I put BOTH possiblity of routes (One thru CO and one thru AZ/NM)? LRCrescue is a new member.. they posted in here about a lab in Missouri- I think. They are from New Mexico. Jen 04-07-2005, 09:18 PM Wow! You are going to rescue three labs from the Memphis shelter? I skimmed through the first four pages and caught the drift towards the end! Great job Lisa and your apprentice is doing a fantastic job too :) MISS LISA 04-07-2005, 09:19 PM LOL! I could NOT have done this w/o Sarah and her "squeakiness" :D MISS LISA 04-07-2005, 09:20 PM Also.. Sarah if I get the thread started.. you gotta help me keep it alive.. I know you're good at that! :) Sarah 04-07-2005, 09:23 PM Want me to start it? MISS LISA 04-07-2005, 09:24 PM I dont mind. Either way. If you want to, then go for it. But I think we should mention that we will need to do both routes.. just in case our NM and AZ members arent available.. I think there are a lot more CO members. I dont know though.. just my :2cents: Just let me know what you want to do. ;) Sarah 04-07-2005, 09:25 PM I'll start it up. Go eat your enchilladas. :) Punky 04-07-2005, 09:25 PM I will help with the transport as far as coordinating. I won't be able to participate as this is way south of me but I will coordinate it if my help is needed. MAS is a tough shelter to get animals pulled from but it not impossible. What a lot of people don't understand is that they deal with hundreds of animals a week!! I know all of you just see the pics on the webshots site but there are a lot more there than you see. Only the most adoptable ones make it on webshots. Trust me when I say Jeanne is a very busy person and things happen. I still cry thinking about the choco boy, Pooh, that Deneen lost as we both emailed and made phone calls like crazy to save him. But it just didn't happen. But she did save Judee from there. In rescue, remember this, one at a time (or 3 in this case...lol). Got fingers and paws crossed for all of you trying to get them out. Penny MISS LISA 04-07-2005, 09:25 PM LOL! Thanks.. moving onto Oreos in a minute.. MISS LISA 04-07-2005, 09:27 PM Thanks Punky. Any help you can offer in coordinating this would be greatly appreciated. We are going to have to spend some money to get them boarded until the transport takes place. Punky 04-07-2005, 09:31 PM The way I see it ... this is going to be a 2 week transport with someone having to foster for one week. It is a very long way from Memphis to Vegas. Remember with Mudge it was a 2 day transport from MI to CO and I kept her overnight with me. Let me contact some people in rescue in various states and see what I can come up with. Penny MISS LISA 04-07-2005, 09:33 PM Yeah.. and its a three dog transport which makes it harder. MISS LISA 04-07-2005, 09:33 PM I am going to start a new thread in here (Rescue Section) with just the three we are trying to get. And we can continue in there. Sarah 04-07-2005, 09:37 PM Lisa sign on IM please MISS LISA 04-07-2005, 09:41 PM Hey.. I'm on MSN :) Punky 04-07-2005, 09:41 PM Ummm...are you above begging? :brow: I'm not and if need be, I will beg for you. There are non-stop flights daily from Memphis to Las Vegas on Northwest Airlines. NWA has one of their hubs based in Memphis so this may be a viable option for you. Just a thought for now. Penny Sarah 04-07-2005, 09:42 PM We will certainly put the dogs on a flight, we just need someone to get them to the airport and fill the forms, etc! Punky 04-07-2005, 09:43 PM Let me email someone I know in Memphis... a different one from Deneen but in the same rescue. Punky 04-07-2005, 09:47 PM Make sure that when you call Jeanne, tell her that you are more than able to fly them!!!! It is a completely different foster situation if if is only for a couple days compared to a week or two waiting for a transport to fill. She may be able to squeeze them in somewhere. Sarah 04-07-2005, 09:48 PM What about temperature issues, Penny? MISS LISA 04-07-2005, 09:51 PM That would be great. I think we should start calling different airlines and ask what their regulations are.. temps/weights.. etc? Punky 04-07-2005, 09:54 PM Temperature shouldn't be an issue now. The flights from Memphis to Vegas goes the southern route for the most part. (Yes, I have personally flown that route a few times when I lived in Arkansas and needed a "ka-ching" fix. ) http://www.petswelcome.com/milkbone/airtravframe.html copy and paste this link...it has great info about what is required to fly your pet on NWA. Sarah 04-07-2005, 09:56 PM Looks like I'm calling NWA tomorrow morning! Punky 04-07-2005, 09:57 PM Here is a better link...this is NWA cargo site. http://www.nwa.com/services/shipping/cargo/products/liveanship.html Sarah 04-07-2005, 10:00 PM Penny, switch this chat over to the General Chat Board...look at the LVLR needs YOU thread. MISS LISA 04-07-2005, 10:04 PM Great.. so we have a lead for tomorrow morning. If it looks like we can fly them from LA to here- we need to get prices - as well as find a transport from Memphis to Kim's area. MISS LISA 04-07-2005, 10:05 PM Let's switch to the "LVLR needs you" thread in Gen Chat, but in the Rescue forum.. lets use the "LVLR is trying to save 3 labs" thread. This one is kind of long and hard to follow now :) Labfan 04-08-2005, 04:01 AM I just wanted to add something here re: the chocolate lab pup in MAS that Deneen was planning to take in to foster care, but it died. I talked with Jeanne on the phone about that, and she said that it was not a mistake on the shelter's part. She said that when she adopts a dog for a rescue, the adoption card is placed in a slot on the cage with Jeanne's name on it. She said the pup was found dead in the cage, and she said that it might explain the pup's shyness, that it was sick, but Jeanne couldn't tell from looking at him. Jeanne told me that this shelter is much improved since the new director took over, and Jeanne has a good relationship with him. It is not impossible to adopt from this shelter, and yes, Jeanne is very busy, but she did a great job pulling the y lab/husky pup for me, after I applied through RAOT's Homeward Bound adoption application on behalf of my brother's family. Jeanne fostered the pup for a month, because he had to be treated for kennel cough, and we had to wait for the cough to clear and the weather, before flying him to Vancouver BC CANADA. Jeanne put the pup on the plane for us, via North West Airlines. Marion Lindsay mariontl@telus.net Dani 04-08-2005, 04:42 AM I hope if you fly them NWA you have a better experience than I did shipping Neo! MISS LISA 04-08-2005, 09:29 AM Thank you so much, Marion. That makes me feel a lot better. |
