Hi Karen! How are things going? I have been so busy, I was out of town for a little over a week tending to some family illnesses and now I'm back and full swing with the pound again. We had a bit of a repreve but we are again FULL. :( We have no more room for large dogs at all. I posted Potter (Foxhound) to Best Friends hoping someone will maybe help with vetting as I think I may be able to get an all breed rescue locally to pull him, but they are wanting him fully vetted. I don't have the funds to do it at this time but I will take any offer or contact that is provided to me. He will be first to go down he has been there the longest and he is such a good boy.
The other one that is on the list is Wyndi. She is a female Black Lab/X. She is a great dog as well she has the best personality. I was wondering if I give you a bio and photo of her if you could post her to Lab Forum? I am having a hard time posting from home for some reason. I'll put her up on BF tomorrow if you could help me out with the Lab Forum. For some reason I am not able to paste photos to the e-mails but I have attached one for you to see her.

Seeking salvation!

I would like to introduce you to Wyndi. She is a 6mo - 1 yr old female Black Lab/X. She has so much personality. You can just see her smile when you walk in. She is always happy to see you and will great you with a quick hop and kiss as she is let out to play. She is a clean slate to work with, she is a quick study and so eager to please. She loves to play a good game of catch with her squeaky toys and settles in for some good scratches and dog treats. She is great with all other dogs and doesn't mind the cats. She is good with kids also. She would make a wonderful addition to a family. I have told her she just needs to hold on as I am doing all that I can to find her a rescue or home to take her in. She would love to go for long walks in the summer, swimming at the lake or in a wading pool in the yard. Wyndi would be glad to curl up with you on the couch and watch a good movie and listen to anything you want to share. Is there anyone out there who would like to take her home and show her how good a family life can really be?

Don't let our location deter you from considering her. There are to volunteers at this shelter who do all that they can to save the dogs that come into the care of this facility. We are very rescue friendly and transportation can be worked out. Our shelter is located in Osawatomie, KS approximately 45 min. south of the Kansas City metro area.

She will be up to date on all of her shots and will only need a spay. If you would like more information on Wyndi, please contact me at VLarkin@aol.com (VLarkin@aol.com)

Thank you for taking the time to look at Wyndi!

Thank you for any help!!! It is so greatly appreciated!

Val

Trish:

And the Foxhound is in danger, too, at same shelter.

I can probably short term foster her (after Barnny comes and goes) if there is a rescue that can take her.

Hi, Jen:

How long do you think you will have Barney?

Is he going to a rescue after you foster him?

Karen: Barney is (hopefully) flying to LVLR on Feb. 3.

If Val can get more pics of her (to see how "mixed" she looks), and Jen can foster her until I have room, we could possibly take her after Barney comes and is adopted out.

That would be wonderful if Jen could foster her after Barney and LVLR
could take Wyndi.

I have e-mailed Val that you need some more pictures of her.

Wyndi looks a little like Tucson to me.

Hello! I am working at getting some more photos of Wyndi to share. I will e-mail them once I do get them. They are on a CD so I have to wait for Ted to send them to me...it may be early this evening but I will get them.

We also have an update on her. She will be fully vetted. We found a sponsor for her to pay for the full vetting expense so that will be all taken care of.

Thank you for taking a look at her and replying. Also you can contact me directly at VLarkin@aol.com

Thanks again

Val

I'm so glad you joined, Val! Did you get my last email about Barney? I'm curious to hear if there was anything further to know about him. :)

Can't wait to see new pics of Wyndi.

I told Val I think she looks like Tucson and Val thinks so too, but she is a little smaller.

Since you live in Kansas do you know of any good rescues for us to contact-we are looking for someone to take Potter, the 2-3 year old Foxhound, or another person that fosters.

Val said:
I have contacted PALS in Wichita, a place in Topeka (I'm drawing a blank on the name) and an All Breed rescue in Minnesota (they would but are full). The rescue when I first talked to the (The Foxhound Rescue) doesn't have any room to take him on but said he may have a better chance out east at getting adopted. But it would be hard to get him there so something local or within the Midwest would be ideal.....I'm open to just about ANYONE though as long as they check out.

Karen:

The rescue we got Maddie from is Leavenworth Animal Welfare Society. I think they rescue primarily from Leavenworth Animal Control and are often jam-packed, but they are an all-breed rescue so its worth a try.

This is their website: http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/KS50.html

There is also this place which I think is a few hours away ... http://www.scarsusa.com/

I know a while back Steinbeck supposedly arranged for Glenna to go to a rescue in Mission, KS (KC area). I don't remember the name of it, but I'm sure its on the old thread about Glenna and Tucson.

I have also heard of dogs being transferred to our shelter here in Lawrence (lawrencehumane.org), which is very low kill and has really high adoption rates. I have no idea how that process happens or under what conditions they will take in dogs from outside the area, but its worth a shot.
