Romeo is true to his name! What a lover! Unfortuentely, like a lot of Labradors he is blind from genetic Retinol Degeneration. He also is extremely bow-legged that is a birth deformamity but doesn't slow him down a bit. His owner said he is affectionate, likes to ride in the car, is a little shy and scared of new things (I would be too if I couldn't see),, and needs to be crated when left alone so he doesn't get into mischief. He loves to play with toys so just touch him on the shoulder to let him know it is there and you are ready to play. And since Romeo is only 9 months old, thank goodness there is a lot of information of training visual impaired dogs online!

Grrrrrr... amateur breeders should be put in a pound and left there for good while.

OMG! That looks a ton like Willie! they suffer from the same issue, only Willie does not have the bowed legs. Keep me posted if no one else comes forward for this pup.

And after all this...he gets taken to a shelter. This baby can't catch a break! He's only nine months old! I pray that there is somewhere out there who can appreciate Romeo for who he is. He's a heartbreaker.

I talked with the shelter today. They have had no interest in him yet, but they do out of state adoptions. I will keep you posted.

How sad......poor thing deserves so much better. Well, they ALL do - it just makes me nauseous!!!

I will call the shelter again today. They were supposed to call me, but never did.

This guy looks somewhat like Buddy Callahan. Is he small? I have learned that malformed limbs and blindness can be a result of dwarfism.

I am hoping we can help him.

I have a lot of time, and I have experiance in blind dogs, but I already took in a puppy that had a skin allergy. I would love to adopt him, but it wouldn't be fair to my 10wk old puppy. I hope he does find a home!

Poor, sweet, precious Romeo!! This boy is a loyal friend, just waiting to be welcomed with open arms despite his conditions. All he needs is one person to love him...please!

I just called about Romeo AGAIN. It is 417 our time, so they are probably closed. I did leave a message, and will follow up tomorrow morning. They are not great about returning phone calls. They would have to hold him untill transport arrangement could be made. I could not do a transport myself until Spring break, and that is too long. Hopefully we can work something out.

Both Romeo and Larado are so good looking. I am sure Romeo's disability seems daunting to many I hope someone who has experience can help this boy out in time !

Romeo is beautiful, i hope home can be found soon for this deserving boy. They have some beautiful labbies at the shelter. Shelbyann is listed as having been there since june and sounds like a perfect dog.
