Black lab puppy in very rural shelter that doesn't get many adoptions--needs rescue groups to help get dogs out. Not in danger of being pts--just really needs to get out while still a pup! Please contact

http://www.petfinder.org/shelters/KY103.html

very rescue friendly--run by all volunteers--very short of volunteers.

Catera is her name--I can't seem to post her picture....if anyone else can, I would be grateful...

Thank you, Joe. Look at that coat--soft, smooth, silky! Highly adoptable, highly adoptable, if only she were in a place more populated....local adoptions are few and far between. Couldn't any rescue group take her in and show her and find her a home? She's so cute!

nothing....

Marilyn...I did a search for Lab Rescues in Kentucky and this is what I found...I don't know anything about them...but perhaps it is worth sending them an email.

Thanks--we'll try them....but interestingly, no--not one--in-state rescue group has ever helped them. I think Kentucky is one of those really rough places to be a dog....

If there is a rescue in the area Dayton, OH or Cincinnati, OH - I will volunteer to drive down and get her.

If I could find a way to get here up here, we'd love to take her. Not sure how the whole thing works or how much it would be.

You might want to call or email the shelter....it says that they are very rescue friendly and they might be able to arrange for a transport to get the puppy to you....Good Luck...it would be wonderful if you could adopt her.

Like Lily said, call the shelter and find out what you have to do to adopt this little one. I can set up transport for you. She would need to be utd on shots, bordetella, rabies, if she's old enough and spayed. She would need a health certificate and all her vet records for transport up into the New England states.

You can contact me at miskeira@sbcglobal.net if you need to contact me. Good lucK!!!

Just so you understand. I am from Illinois-Karen519.
Was just asking for someone else here who expressed interest.

They REALLY need RESCUE GROUPS to take dogs--it's hard for them to adopt dogs out across the country one or two at a time--they do take their dogs back--but as we all know getting them back across the country is another thing....no offense intended to anyone! They are thrilled though that interest has been shown and I have been asked to post some more of their labs--Wally, Star, Janelle, and Salsa. Of course I am at work and can't post pictures. I started a new thread called Kentucky Kids--can anyone help post pics? Thanks!

I emailed the shelter last night and got the response of we'll keep you in mind if we are going to send dogs up to NH. They told me that there was an offer to foster her to get her out of the shelter. I didnt' get the feeling that they were interested in any out of state transport. Thanks for all of your advice!

Many times we have had to arrange transport on here, Acme Pet Transport..I even had to pay a private person to go rescue three dogs that were in WV and going to a foster home in Oh.

2labs4us: She would make a wonderful pet and life long friend! I bet they'd help get her to you if you called!

Bless you for trying!

And good luck!

Actually, we're looking for Rescue Groups! They really provide a great service to shelters and adopters--like a middleman, so to speak--it's not a great idea for a shelter to adopt a dog out really far away if they don't have resources to get him back....plus they don't have any way to help if there is a problem....a Rescue Group can do a lot more than a shelter can -- check out adopters, follow up, etc. A shelter in Kentucky can't responsibly adopt out dogs hundreds of miles away.

Humane Socieites can help if you can't find a rescue group.

I've e.m.'d KY Lab Rescue twice now about her-haven't heard anything.
