View Full Version : Anyone thinking about renting a doppler?
Black Olive 02-14-2007, 09:37 AM I found a great deal and thought I'd pass it along. Why rent when you can purchase for about the same price!? And if this is your first baby, you'll have it for future pregnancies! I wish I would've purchased the first time instead of renting.

Mommy's 2 Girls 02-14-2007, 09:38 AM My sister has the non digital one...she is passing it along with many other cool toys and stuff she had for the boys!
Mom2labs 02-14-2007, 09:47 AM Wow! The things that are out now!!
Luvmydudley 02-14-2007, 10:58 AM This is what makes me look forward to my MD appointments.
I read somewhere that when the baby is large enough if someone puts their ear to your belly they can hear the heartbeat.
DH doesn't like anything to do with the baby growing and developing in the belly, so I can't convince him to see if it works. He won't even touch my belly....weirdo!
zoerossi46 02-14-2007, 02:50 PM Is he frightened??? Now I do think my husband was a bit freaked out when Tommy was his most active

I can "feel" my guy breathing at this point, if he is the right spot. It is weird. I don't remember feeling that with my other two.
Black Olive 02-14-2007, 04:25 PM Well, I'm only 8w3d, I'm not feeling or seeing anything yet LOL I ordered my doppler and believe it or not, it should be here tomorrow! Unfortunately I likely won't be able to hear the HB w/ it for a while yet. Drats. But you know I'll try darn hard LOL

I was so nervous this past time. My doc couldn't hear the HB with the doppler at 12 weeks!! Had to go for a US that same day to make sure everything was Ok. Happily, it was. Try not to drive yourself crazy with the doppler. I probably would...
gatorblueyes 02-14-2007, 07:52 PM Yea, don't make yourselves crazy with this...sometimes you can't get the baby's heart beat and sometimes you get the flow through the placenta instead which can be much slower than the baby's heartbeat at times.
Black Olive 02-14-2007, 08:18 PM Yeah, I know. I used the doppler when pregnant w/ my son. I actually found the HB at 10wks, that very day my OB couldn't find it. Sometimes it would take forever, some times I just couldn't find it. Other times, bam, it was right there.

Yea...it just depends on where the baby is...when they get larger and you can figure out their body positioning it gets easier to find the heartbeat. During OB visits when I was first learning how to use a doppler I had a hard time distinguishing between placenta and baby on a few moms.
