View Full Version : Att: Alex Cross fans
JenQuinn 01-08-2006, 02:51 PM Anyone out there read James Patterson? The whole Alex Cross series- which started out thrilling, on the edge of your seat- and now I am muddling thru the newest saga, Mary Mary. Please don't tell me how it ends. If I ever get thru it, what I really want to happen is that Alex Cross finally finds love, happiness, and peace in his life without all the weird sickos he's met in the last 4 or 5 books.
Anyone else out there disillusioned with what this series has become?
Also- I know it's too late and Morgan Freedman plays Alex Cross in the movies- but come on- who would have been a better choice?
KirbysMama 01-08-2006, 05:06 PM I love patterson! I haven't read Mary Mary yet I just finished his other book born on the 4th. He co-writes with someone.
I agree there is no one better the Morgan Freeman to play the part. . .although they will have to find a new one so I guess I would like to see Michael Duncan Clark or Denzel
JohnnyNocera 01-08-2006, 06:18 PM I have read most of his books but not the latest yet. Guess i iwll have to pick it up soon
JenQuinn 01-08-2006, 06:27 PM I have read most of his books but not the latest yet. Guess i iwll have to pick it up soon
I actually couldn't bring myself to pay money for it, I borrowed it from someone else. I've read all his books, and I have to say his new ones are missing what his older ones had. Don't know how to put my finger on it.
MyChloe 01-08-2006, 06:46 PM I love the Alex Cross series. I got Mary Mary for Christmas but havent started reading it yet. The first one I read was Big Bad Wolf. Then went backwards to 4 Blind Mice and then London Bridges. I have loved all of them.
I was wondering why you said someone other than Morgan Freeman would have to play him? Did something happen to Freeman? If they did have to replace him, I agree that Denzel Washington would be a good choice. In the newer books, it would be hard to imagine Freeman with a son as young as Cross's
ruby_girl 01-08-2006, 08:37 PM Love James Patterson!! His books are awesome!! I just finished reading When the Wind Blows, its an older one I picked up at a tag sale and love it!! Haven't read Mary Mary yet, but am looking forward to it!
JenQuinn 01-09-2006, 06:22 AM Morgan Freedman never fit for me. Alex Cross always seemed to be- an older Will Smith.... A lankier Denzel....A hot, sexy dude- LOL!
My dad has been a reading fool lately and just gave me Mary Mary. I love the Alex Cross series. My dad liked it, so we'll see! :)
Kona's Mommy 01-09-2006, 06:57 AM I just started reading the Alex Cross series also. I really like it so far, although I haven't read them in any sense of order. lol. I didn't even realize there were movies! Which ones are movies, and are they out on video yet?
Speaking of James Patterson, I really like the Alex Cross series, but I recently grabbed The Lake House at the library. Talk about weird! Flying children and secret experiments?? Should have been in the Sci Fi section!! I really didn't enjoy it as much as the others.
I have been reading them in order I am anal like that and don't like to skip around. I agree that Denzel would have been a much better choice!! I picture Alex as HOT!!
Right now I am up to Roses are Red. With Violets are Blue standing by!!
Cricket 01-09-2006, 11:03 AM Denzel plays Lincoln Rhymes aka the Bone Collector etc. I could not be able to have him in both roles. I would expect Alex Cross and Lincoln Rhymes...too confusing.

Leslie 01-09-2006, 11:18 AM I'm reading Patterson's Lifeguard now. Really good. I like the Cross series but had to stop reading when his son was taken from him to live with his mother in California. Just made me sad.
JenQuinn 01-09-2006, 08:11 PM Just made me sad.
Everything in Alex's life ends up sad- he's always being pulled away from his kids to deal with weird sicko's- he has really bad luck with the woman.
I always thought that Blair what's his name would have made a good Alex Cross... I want to say Blair Underwood- is that right? Ashley Judd was right on the money in her role in Kiss the Girls- and I was so freaked out by Monica Potter in Along Came A Spider that I never saw it. To any that saw the movie- Jezzie (MOnica Potter) and Alex(Morgan Freedeman) have this hot thing.... Yuck!
Anyway....I think my favorite of all his books is Black Friday- But when I read it, the title was Black Market
Bluenose Lab 01-14-2006, 12:58 PM I just read my first James Patterson Book - Roses are Red. What a great novel. My neighbour loaned it to me when I was moaning about having nothing to read. I had no idea there was an order to the way the books should be read. I can't wait to get my hands on more now.
chancie 01-24-2006, 11:34 AM I love James Patterson, I check out Mary Mary last week, it is due today, and I never read it!! That isn't like me either, I am hooked on historical romances right now, I thought I would get to it, but didn't make it. I will get to it, I am looking forward to reading his others too, 4th of July, Honeymoon, and Lifeguard. If anyone has read those let me know if they are worth it.
Vegas's Mom 01-24-2006, 12:44 PM I LOVE James Patterson! I started with the Womans Murder Club...and then started on the Alex Cross Books. I just started Mary Mary. Everyone I've talked to says it great! I can't wait to see what happens!
