Luvblklabs and myself have been chatting about a Northwest Lab Day.... any takers? I know there are several members on this board from Washington and Oregon, however, all are welcome. We thought we'd see how many of you might be interested, and would know of a good / safe place for all of us and our labs to get together. We're thinking about waiting until all of this white stuff melts....maybe sometime in the spring or summer. If you're interested, or know of a good place to meet, let me know!

Thats a really great idea! I was thinking of something like that awhile back. Hopefully, I will be back in Washington in a few months. I cant wait to move back to Spokane! Just let me know the particulars when you know, that sounds like a lot of fun!!

Hmmm.... I'm in the sticks (eastern Oregon)... but I might be up for it... it would be sweet to meet somewhere like Portland, where we could meet at a hikeing park or something, when we're done, go to a bar that lets you bring your critters with you!

Or, we should go somewhere where there's water... Ooooo, what about the coast? We could over-run some pet-friendly motel !!!

Sounds fun! I'm near Portland. Please keep me posted.

Yahoo! This is sounding like more fun every minute! I'm keeping a list of names, and will get back to you later on. I thought we'd wait and see who was interested before we picked a spot. -with the hope of trying to make it a somewhat central location. Keep sending me your ideas of where to meet - I'm making a list of those, too!

I've always wanted to go to this pub in portland: http://www.luckylab.com . - their one location has a patio in back for you and your dogs to hang out.

I'd also be happy to offer my big black dog-wagon to pick up anybody in my vacinity (eastern oregon, eastern washinton, western Idaho)- asumeing we'd end up in the more populated portland/seattle areas (where I asume there are more members). Road-trips get me all giddy. :drive

It isn't even planned yet- and I'm all excited! :bounce:

Let me know if there's anything I can do to help!

Thanks for the info, Carrie! My husband was pretty excited to hear of a pub that would let Tanner in. I might have to make a trip to Portland just to "check it out!" Wohoo! This will be fun! I hope we hear from some more board members...we're up to 5.

Glad to see some are interested! The Oregan coast is very dog friendly. We stay at a great place in Cannon Beach every summer. Need to make reservations early for these locations since they fill up fast. Who doesn't like a pub that even allows our Labbies. What a great place that would be also. Let's keep collecting interested families names and then we can vote to see what location sounds best.

I'd love to attend, however, I'm on the East Coast and I wouldn't be able to get all the dogs there. Make sure you guys take LOTS of pictures.

Carrie Hoof - I've heard of the Lucky Lab Pub. They are awesome. Found them accidently online and we've ordered some long sleeve t's and short sleeve t's. They even sent us decals and coasters as a bonus! They have an great idea in October - instead of Ocktoberfest, I think they call it Dogfest or something like that. They do a fundraiser for a shelter (I believe) and you can bring your dogs in for a bath!

That would be a great place for you guys to go.

I just wanted to bumb this thread. I know we've recently gained several members from the Pacific Northwest.

It looks like the snow is almost gone! The passes look good. I think we should try to set a date and place.

Ideas?

We haven't set a date yet. We had originally discussed meeting in the spring, but summer really would work best for me, too. I think it would be nice to select a place and date so that everyone could plan on it.

Hey Miriam.....you could always take a little vacation trip out here!!!!!

Gail- Thanks for bringing this up again. I am game for summer, but we need to pick a date soon. I coordinate my sons swim team during the summer and my schedule is pretty busy. What about Fourth of July weekend? Where are we meeting? Is it Portland or Seattle? Any ideas...............feel free to put in your 2 cents everyone.

I'm in charge of the family reunion on the July 4th weekend, so I wouldn't be able to make it then. How about late June? Patty, do you know of some good dog parks in the Seattle area where we could meet? I haven't been to any of them.

We do need to pick a day and location. I know the summer gets busy fast. We had also talked about meeting in Portland and then going to the Lucky Labrador Brewery.:brow: -However, there was some concern due to the poisonings in Portland's dog parks last summer. Portland area people, what do you think?

If anyone knows of a great Pacific Northwest dog park, let us know and we can go from there.

I'll try looking into some other options from my neck of the woods, too!

Is there anywhere around Packwood/Hwy 12 area? It's only a few hours from everywhere and beautiful in the summer. Close to Mount Rainier too. We have a cabin there, so I am being a bit selfish to recommend it. Anyone interested?

TanDunc
03-01-2004, 08:43 PM
madandrob - if we could find a secure place around Packwood, that would be wonderful. Packwood is pretty centrally located. (Only a little over and hour for me...;) ) I haven't been there in a long time though.

I'm going to go search for northwest dog parks. There has to be a good one somewhere......

Just wanted to bump this thread......

Luvblklabs....have you visited any of the dog parks in the Seattle area?

Let's set the place and date....any whoever shows, shows.

CarrieHoof had suggested a pub in the Portland area...the Lucky Labrador micro pub. If nothing else, we could bring our labs, and have a few beverages together. ;) Although, I think the furkids would be sad they couldn't play. -I wish there was a place in Portland where we could let the dogs play. The poisonings in the dog parks last year makes me nervous.

I can't wait!

Hi Gail,

Well, the doggie park we go to is on Lake Washington and located just of the I-90 & I405 on Mercer Island. It is a fun place with lots of room to roam and play. We could plan a picnic lunch, although the benches are in the leashed area the doggies could have some quiet time in the cars or stayed leashed. Or we could have fun at the park and then go out for some lunch.

There are several parks in the Seattle area however I have spoken to many people at this park who come over from Seattle and they say it's nicer. We also have Marymoor Park, Redmond if we want a little more high energy play. It can be VERY crowded on the weekends and you can encounter the occasional aggresive dog and owner!(hehehehe)

So.....those are my suggestions. Lets pick a date and go for it!

Patty,
Let's go for it! Lake Washington sounds great to me! Yahoo!

When? Early June?

-Lunch in the leashed area sounds great, too!

O.K.....what day sounds better? Sat or Sun? I prefer 5/6 or 12/13. When is school out for you? Does that matter?

It may be rainy still in June so we should plan a constingency for the picnic if it's rainy. I am closest so let me coordinate those plans.

Anyone else who wants to join us for a fun doggie day please let us know.....it will be a blast!

Let's go for the weekend of the 12/13. Either day. You pick! Once the date is set, I'll pm others who expressed an interest before.:p:

(Is there a covered picnic area?) - If all else fails, we could turn it into a tail-gate picnic.

luvblklabs
03-25-2004, 07:34 PM
Let's go for Sunday 6-13-04. There is not a covered area, so a tail gate would be fun! Let me keep thinking and maybe I will come up with some options.

Hooray...........we have set the date!~

We lost our black Lab puppy (4 mos.) to pneumonia and because of the high vet bills we've had to put off getting another. I hate not having that little guy around. I still cry when I see his picture on my desktop. I need this board and look at the pictures of all these beautiful Labs. My son said he wishes a dog would fall out of the sky!!! Wouldn't that be wonderful! Sorry to go on but as you can tell I want my Lab!!!!!! Thanks for listening. Christine your dog is gorgeous! Good luck with your babies!!!!

I have been asked if we could move this to Saturday the 12th. -That would make it a little easier for some people who have to travel. It doesn't matter to me...how about you guys?

Also, this date is approaching quickly! I can't wait! I'm wondering how many are still planning on attending? It might be nice to get some numbers so that we can plan a meal...maybe a picnic/potluck?

Carrie Hoof
06-04-2004, 02:18 PM
I have to pick up Gus in Pland on Saturday morning anyway... So we could head up after that... If it is most of an afternoon that would be good on Saturday... Or if you guys do Sunday, It would have to be early for us to make it.
