An update. These two are still available according to their website. They also have 2 senior labs and NOW a black lab puppy. These are all purebreds if you're interested in that!!!

OMGoodness, we have all been so swamped lately. It's unreal. I wonder why it's been so bad??? Thank you for posting and checking in, that's sometimes all it takes to get 1 adopted. As we say at Adopt A Lab, saving labs 1 at a time.

Here's irresistable Iris.http://www.giveshelter.org/animal_img/56146.jpg

And look at Sweet Scout.http://www.giveshelter.org/animal_img/56038A.jpg

Linda, how would someone go about rescueing a dog from out of state? I know the site said set up interviews but just wondering if out of staters can rescue as well.

Thanks, Bill

Bill, yes they can, or at least SOME shelters will. The interested party would need to call the shelter and verify that they will adopt to people out of their stater. Otherwise, they can find someone in state that will help them get the labs. After confirmation, the shelter should do an interview over the phone and will prolly ask for a reference and a Vet's number to call for a reference also. Then, the shelter itself will sometimes set up a transport or at least help in the transport of the dog to the out of state person. Of course some will not help either. Lots of people here on the board could help and I belong to a couple of transport websites, too, that can help with a coordinator, etc. Go to Acme Pet Transport to learn more. There are numerous people that do transports. There are some that you pay, but almost all the ones I am familiar with will do it voluntarily. I myself haven't had much luck with transport West of the Mississippi. We see much more movement on the East side of the river. Just an FYI. I hope I have made this clear, if you have more questions, just let me know.

Thank you, that was helpful. I have been curious about that for sometime. Thanks for the help again.

Oh my goodness. Looks like a few of these have adoptions pending but they are getting a lot of labs, most say they are purebreds too which is rare in a shelter setting.

Sweetebear, can you find out which have been adopted and let me know, please?? I see they have a new yellow named Max, too.
