My Caesar eats Evo kibble but I occasionally buy the odd can of good quality canned dog food as a treat and add some to both the dog and the cat's meal. For the cat I'm talking about no more than a tablespoon a day.
I know cats can't exclusively eat dog food but will a little bit as a treat now and then be a bad thing? I'd appreciate any advice or experience anyone has to offer ...
Thanks ~Ruth

If a little dog food now and again is a problem then my cats are in trouble! Two of them are obsessed with the dog's kibble and steal pieces every chance they get. DH and I said that one is just a very small lab in a cat suit.
My parent's cats run to lick the gravy off their dog's canned food every night with no ill effects.
I think your kitty would be fine with a taste of canned dog food occasionally if he's eating cat food other wise.

I agree. A little dog food isn't going to harm them what so ever.

Great, thanks for the input.
I used to get chicken or beef broth from the grocery store when it was on sale and moisten one meal a day with that but someone mentioned even the reduced salt versions had more salt than was good for animals so I feel better using dog food.

Ours have always gotten a 'treat' of some canned food on their dry food. They sit and beg right along with their bigger doggier siblings! They seem fine- even our kitty who is on specialized food for kidney issues does well. Vet said a little bit isnt' going to hurt him!

I agree with the others. Jake is always stealing kibble from Bailey's bowl. Of course, he doesn't manage to get much... one or two at the most.
