I'm going to attempt giving Nallah a bland diet for a few days and see if we can clear up these runny stools.
My question is can I use ground venision instead of beef? I've heard the old standby is boiled hamburger or chicken with rice to help soothe the stomach. I have a whole freezer full of ground venision I'd like to use up. I can't eat it and DH dosn't eat much of it so I thought we could maybe use this up instead of using our beef.
Any input would be appreciated.

No, I think we talked about this not too long ago with someone else. The venison is lower in fat, but the meat is richer, or something like that. You want either boiled ground beef or boiled white meat chicken.
If you are trying to fix a tummy problem, stick to the beef or chicken.
Later on, if you want to get rid of some of the venison, cook a bit up and reduce the kibble a little, and give some of the meat. We always give ours a little something extra on their kibble.

Is it straight venison, or did the processor mix in a little pork? Of course, I have heard pork is bad for dogs.

I have heard that the reason behind giving hamburger or chicken is to entice the dog to eat the rice. Does anyone know is this is true?

Its straight venision, Labman.
I went ahead and boiled it up last night and gave her 1/4cup of venny and 1/4 cup rice. Just as a test as she had already had her normal dinner earlier. She ate it fine and this morning her poop was even a little bit firmer. Still not what I want-but its getting better it looks like.
This morning she had it for breakfast. She's had it several times before and it hasn't caused any problems. I think the factor of it being too rich would be if its a new protein source-which would defeat the purpose of a bland diet. She's had it before so I thought we'd give it a try. If it dosn't work out I always have beef around too.
I'mWithThePyr-I'm not sure about that.......B/c I know Nallah would eat plain rice if I gave it to her. But I plan on doing this for at least 3-4 days, maybe longer and I want to be giving her some meat, ya know? For some dogs-maybe-as I know not all dogs are as excited about any food as Nallah! ;)
