A local supermarket chain here is selling Bumble Bee Canned Salmon for $1.99 a can. Cheapest I've seen in awhile.
The can says Alaskan Keta Salmon from Northwest Waters..
I never heard of "Keta" salmon, does anyone know if there is a difference between this type of salmon vs. regular salmon??

Thank you very much for the link, it was very informing.
I am trying to find out if the nutrional value of this Keta Salmon is the same as other types of Salmon. Like the Omegas in the fish.
The reason I asked about this salmon is because of its price. I have seen other canned salmon in the same size can for as much as $4.59 a can. The keta salmon was only $1.99 a can.

You know I bought a six pack of canned salmon from Costco. It was really good and looked gorgeous. I also bought some Bumble Bee canned salmon thinking they are all the same. The can I opened didn't look nearly as nice as the salmon from Costco. Didn't taste as good either. I was just shocked at the difference between the two. Just my two cents.

I don't know about how the salmon tastes, I wouldn't touch canned salmon myself. The dogs scoffed it up like no tomorrow though and loved it. It does look a little different than the salmon I was getting at Wal-Mart. Honestly, I don't think the dogs really care where I buy it or what kind of salmon I feed them as long as it's SALMON!

Oops - I lied. I was in the cupboard this morning and the canned salmon was Chicken of the Sea not Bumble Bee. I had bought the Costco salmon for Charlie, but decided to taste it. Pretty good for canned.

Keta is the new marketing word for Chum -also called Dog
This may be the same link as was posted earlier.
We smoke our chum -we don't care to eat it fresh or frozen -well we're spoiled I guess we prefer silvers, red and kings. We do jar chum sometimes. We use it for sandwhichs, and salmon patties. Chum isn't as fatty as some of the other species -which why we prolly don't like it as much. Chum is used a lot for dog food.

I just buy Chicken of the Sea canned mackerel for $1.19 a can and sardines in water for $.99 a can to use as my added fish source.
