We are still in as well. We should start working on a date... I'm around for most of the summer so far, except the July long weekend.

Oh I am so glad that people are talking about a Calgary labfest! I was looking for the thread a while back when I checked in, but didn't see it so I assumed that not many people were interested.

Hudson, John and I are definately in and would be happy to drive anywhere :)

Maybe this time Opal can join us, but please give her some time to heal up from her spaying. Opal will be starting swimming lessons as soon as she's able to so we hope she has her swimming feet by the time it's Labfest time.

Last year we all met at an off leash park that the river runs through. We hung out there chatted and took pictures while the doggies swam and played. They I think a bunch of people went back to someones house for a BBQ (I wasn't able to go). It was really Fun!

So should we start with a list of tentative days and go from there. My only dates that I couldn't make it so far are the July long, and Aug 4-14. Anyone have suggestions for dates?

I would prefer July. August I will be (hopefully) driving to the Washington Lab fest :)

they have all the amenities,plus gophers,birds and the river.

If it is in August then I would prefer early or late August because we are making the trip to Washington for the labfest on August 12 and it will take us a couple of days (driving) to get there and back :)

This map shows where the park is (oops it is super small) I'll try to resize.. The area circled by the green line is all off leash. You have to walk about 5 mins to the parking area but it is totally worth it.

I can make it on the first Sunday of August, but I probably won't be able to stay super long - I'm moving on Aug 8th.

I probably won't be able to make it the first weekend in August because Loki is in a dog show for the whole weekend. Don't move it if its just me though OK?

And August 12th I'll be at a "Vizslafest" LOL

Here is a map (still really small, sorry). I'll give directions from Crowchild and hopefully you can get to crowchild... (if you can't, pm me).

For the driving bits, I've drawn in red....
From crowchild, take 50th Ave SW East, turn right on 19th St SW. You can park on 19th St where the red X is, or turn right on 56th Ave SW and park at the tennis dome. There is a sign as you enter 56th Ave saying you can't go down there, don't worry about it you can.

Now (walking) follow the blue line along the bike path to where the dam starts, just before the dam you'll see a wooden stair case leading down into the dog park. I always let Guinness off leash at the start of the stairs so I don't get dragged down the stairs.

I went to the park today to check it out and boy was the water moving FAST! I hope that it doesn't rain before then or else the water will be super fast. Hudson actually didn't go in the water and that is extremely rare for him.

Forget my above comments. I won't be attending the labfest.

Right where the water comes out of the dam it is fast, but if you follow the trails down a little bit there are beaches where the water is perfectly safe. I was there yesterday for an hour fetching balls... the dogs had a blast!!

Hudson hurt his paw and needs it bandaged...unless it heals before then he won't be able to go into the water, and I don't want to have to keep him out of it...he is a little rough on his paws :(

That sucks about the hurt paw... Guinness knows all about those. Vit E orally and topically has helped Guinness' paws heal a little faster. Hope it gets better fast!

I think Hudson and I can still come. His foot is healing quickly so I think that he should be okay for next weekend. We also go to the park daily so it would be fun to meet up :)

I don't think I'm going to be able to make it now either... My mom's decided to rent out her place and has to have it competely painted for the renters before the end of the month - so I'm going to be painting in Turner Valley all weekend now.

Problem with being in Grad school is you never know when your going to be able to leave school for the day. If your in the middle of an experiment you can just stop without ruining it. And because you never know if an experiement is gonna work or not you can't plan ahead timewise. Sorry - enough whining.

Hmm. i work wednesdays at the University until 4:30, but then have to pick up my son north of nosehill and then would have to fight traffic all the way down to glenmore. No chance i could make it there that quick.
How about Nose Creek Park? Does that work for anyone? As it is just off Deerfoot it should not have awful traffic to get there, and there is lotsa water and its offleash? (corner of deerfoot and beddington). Or Nose Hill? I really want to meet up, but wednesday down south doesnt work as i cant get there. WE could meet another week down at glenmore if people could make it farther north this week?

As for thursday, i leave for Vegas that afternoon :)

Unfortunately, up North doesn't work for me on a week night. I work way down south in Sundance, and don't get off till 4:30 at the earliest. If we planned something on a weekend, I could drive farther.

Well it is always hard getting schedules to jive. Tracey are you able to come tonight to Nose Creek for a while? Sanka is taking a quick vet trip, but we will be there by 5:15. I'll check here first to see if you can come. Otherwise we will have to look at next week :) Weekend are out for me for a little while. This weekend I am in Vegas, then we leave Sept 16 for Africa and will be gone a month, so weekends are busy! But maybe next Tuesday afternoon? I can be down south for sure since I will be there already for a 3 o'clock meeting by Southland. Even if a few could make it to the Bow river site that night around 4:30 or 5. Let me know :)

Chantelle and I met last night, but we didn't know of anyone else who was available. We didn't ever find a day that worked for everyone. It might just work best to work "mini lab fests" into our daily park visits.
