Question.. If Calif. Natural Puppy, Lamb & Rice says, this food is approved
for All Life Stages, can you continue to give it as the dog gets older
inasmuch as it has a higher protein than some of the other puppy foods.
Like Innova LB Puppy is I think 24% protein, but Calif. Nat. is 26% protein.
If it says Puppy, but also on the bottom, All Life Stages, why not just
keep them on it???

I would keep him on it as long as he's doing well on it. I feed Lamar, my lab, an all life stages food, but my yorkies, who are 2 and 3, are still on puppy food and are thriving.

If it says Puppy, but also on the bottom, All Life Stages, why not just
keep them on it???Exactly!!! In the same way, an all lifes stages food like Canidae could change their marketing strategy and label their existing formula as "Canidae Puppy Formula" without changing a thing or performing any further tests! :)
A product may claim that it is for "all life stages" if it is suitable for adult maintenance and also meets the more stringent nutritional needs for growth and reproduction.
A product intended "for all life stages" meets the more stringent nutritional needs for growth and reproduction. A maintenance ration will meet the needs of an adult, non-reproducing dog or cat of normal activity, but may not be sufficient for a growing, reproducing, or hard-working animal. On the other hand, an all life stages ration can be fed for maintenance (From "Interpreting Pet Food Labels", FDA)

I was told an "All Life Stages" food is basically puppy food that with a serving size adjustment, can be fed to adults as well.
