Those of you who feed a can ocassionally for a treat, do you go with the same brand as your dryfood or something different? I rarely do this, but its just something different from time to time. What is good quality??? Thanks in advance...

Back when I fed Eagle Pack I occasionally gave Hudson the Eagle Pack cans..I always gave the same brand, but I don't think it would matter otherwise :)

I use all different cans but the brand I use most is Merrick. I also use Tripett a lot . Other populars ones are Evangers and by Nature Organics. Actually I hardly use the same brand as my kibble. I use 1/3 a can per day. These are all high quality cans.

I currently feed Eagle Pack dry but usually add canned Evo, Natures Variety, Wellness, or Eagle Pack depending on which is the better bargain at the time. By Nature Organics (made by Blue Seal Feeds) also makes the identical product which is sold under the name "Brandon Farms" and is available at my local Krogers grocery store. I paid $1.25 for a 13 oz. can and its organic and grain free.

Daisy loves the Merrick canned food on her kibble - I buy her the Wingaling or Smothered Comfort, they both have whole chicken wings/thighs in them. I use Wellness Brand's 95% Meat cans (usually beef) to stuff her Kongs with. It is nice and thick and same consistency so it works well in a Kong (frozen). Plus, it is premium stuff with nothing in it but beef (95%). The rest being carageenan or something like that. The downside is this stuff is expensive. I spend about $10 to $12 bucks a week on canned food. ($3.00/can for the Merrick).

I don't know much about canned foods, but I'd encourage you to do some research on the recall lists before choosing a brand. The wet foods was/is where the big problem lies. I'd be looking for one with all ingredients sourced from within the US, and certainly no ingredients from China.

May I offer you a suggestion? Instead of giving your dog canned dog food as a treat...why not give him or her a can of Jack Mackral instead? Your dog will love it and love you and the benefits you will see are a bonus!!

We usually use different brands of the wet. We currently like Wellness 95% Chicken. It's not a treat, it's part of their meal.

It's fish. You can find it where you find tuna..I buy the one in the red can..Chicken of the Sea I think is the brand. I just dump the whole thing in with their kibble and mix it in..they LOVE it. It's really good for them and for their coats..in the winter months they get it twice a week and in the summer they get it once. You can use sardines as well..but mine seem to prefer the Jack Mack and it's like a buck a can.

How's the sodium content in those cans of jack mack? I think it can be fairly high? I'd check that out.

I use canned salmon instead. My dog seems to prefer it and the benefits should be comparable to the other canned fish. I guess if sodium is a concern you could probably just rinse it before feeding.

One or two whole sardines packed in low-sodium water. They stink, but dogs love them. I also use canned EVO, Evangers, and Timberwolf Organics.
