This Saturday we will be picking up our new puppy, a female black Lab-mix. She is 14 weeks old. When I spoke to the rescue they said the foster family is feeding her an inexpensive puppy food. They are fostering several puppies and the mama so they needed an inexpensive food, which I totally understand.
My question is: I want to switch her over to a better quality puppy food (maybe Eukanuba Large Breed Puppy) so should I mix in some of her old food for awhile? How much and for how long?
Thanks,
Chris

mix the new food in gradually over a period of about a week (some might advise 2 weeks). you can do 75/25, 50/50, 25/75 old/new over a 7 day period.

If she's currently doing ok on the food (firm stools), I'd keep her on it for at least a week while she transitions into your home. Then, gradually change if you'd like. You don't want to change too many things at once ;)

Thanks, that is good advice; I hadn't really thought about that. We'll give her a chance to get settled in and then gradually mix her old and new food.
We can't wait to get to her, we are counting the days until Saturday!
