I have heard from numerous people that they don't feed their dog's commercial dog food...instead, they have their own recipes, or they have a strict diet which consists of store bought "human food"...in either case, the one ingredient never fed is CORN (among obvious others that are poisonous to dogs), the dogs tend to live a lot longer that the average dog food fed pup (one of the main ingredients in "dog food" is corn meal)...it might have something to do with corn being hard to digest? or something along those lines? Vets have said that corn is no good for dogs, so why is it the main ingredient in major brand dog food? We are feeding Jack Science Diet Large Breed Puppy and when i looked at the ingredients........the first one was CORN MEAL!!!! any thoughts on this would be appreciated...thanx

You should pick up some books and do some reading about it.

Here's a really great website with lots of info on different dog foods - and alot of other really interesting things! Do you have a Costco where you live? My next purchase is going to be Diamond brand Lambmeal & Rice formula. Not expensive but on this website it lists all the ingredients - sounds good.

We do not know if we are getting a male or female yet. They were just born this past Friday and although we have already been to see them, it was to soon to pick one out! We are going back in a couple weeks. It is my sister in law's dog that had the puppies so we get the pick of the litter!!!
I printed out a ton of info from the site link you gave and brought it home to my husband. We are learning a lot!!
Thanks again and I will send pics as soon as I have some!!!
