I'm finally able to get Diamond Chicken and Rice so we went ahead and switched. Ally has always been kind of flaky. So I thought the higher Fat content would help. It also has a higher protein content. She has done really well, she's not quite so flaky and she has these burst of energy we rarely see with her. Her ears are doing even better than they were with the lamb. They got pretty nasty at Christmas time with her eating who knows what! We still have to clean them/ wipe them a lot. But they are not nearly as yeasty. We've also noticed as she has gotten older she can't eat any corn. It used to be that if she had cheap treats she was fine, but now that is a no-no. Is that common? I know that I shouldn't give her cheap treats anyway and we don't very often.:D She really likes fruit so we use that a lot. When I'm in a bigger area and I can get treats with out corn in them I do. No real point to this post, I'm just excited she is doing so well! I still cant get over the energy she seems to have and it's only been a little over a month!

She eats a cup to 1 1/2 cups twice a day. 7am and 5pm not 7:01 she is my alarm clock! She is also looking nice and trim she can easily get quite big so we have to be very careful. She does eat more during hunting season when she is working everyday.

Good to hear that the new food is doing better for her. Allergies can come on with age and with time. So developing a corn sensitivity later on in life isn't surprising. The higher protein actually helps with coat probably a bit more than the higher fat content. At least that's the schpiel I get from Nature's Variety for when I do my demos! :)

:o: I always thought it was the fat. Hey I learn something new everyday! She has always had a corn issue. I think it may be getting worse. I would have used the chicken and not the lamb from the beginning but I live in the middle of nowhere and even the bigger towns didn't have it. I was really excited when I found it. I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to dog nutrition but I'm learning. Thank you so much for your help!:D

We were using I think Lamb in the beginning and then he had a lot of gas, so we decided to switch to the Chicken. I can't remember what little issue we had when we switched, but it was something small. Then I realized that he was actually doing really well when we were mixing half and half to switch. That's what I've been feeding ever since. Sounds kinda weird but it works for us! :) I'm glad that you've seen such an improvement so soon, that's great.

Our dogs have always done well on Diamond Naturals and it was in our rotation til one of ours developed an allergy to any kind of flax. Its sort of hard now to find a food w/o it. We're currently on a Royal Canin (no flax) but are feeding a lot of it (lower calorie food) Diamond chicken is a good food.
