We currently live in Kentucky where Dock Diving ceased to exist after Buffalo Crossing went out of business. We have just purchased a home in the Florida Pan Handle located between Destin and Panama City and am looking to get our yellow puppy Maggie started in dock diving. If anyone knows of any dock diving activities in the area, please let me know.

There is a Splash Dogs event coming up in Pensacola at the Redfish Cup.
I don't know if there are any clubs in the area.

*** holds an event in Destin every year (usually in Feb). There will also be a Splash Dogs event in Ft. Myers Oct 23-25 if you want to make the drive.

Our community has several floating boat docks on Lake Powell which are perfect for starting a dog on dock diving. As Lake Powell is a tidal lake I do have some concerns about gators though. Anyone else have the same concerns?

Gators are a big concern in Florida in general...hence why there probaby isn't as much dock diving as other places in the US.

Ditto. ALL of the waterways near me have gators. A few friends have property with smaller ponds that are gator free, but there also only knee deep. Hailey & I are a part of the Ft. Myers club and its a pond on private property which provides a safe jumping environment for everyone.
There is a club starting up in Tampa, with some experienced extreme vertical people behind it, I'll have to find out more information for you.

In the panhandle there aren't a whole lot of gators, but plenty of cotton mouths.
You'll have risks every where you go, it's just up to you to decide whether the conditions are safe for your dog.
I would like to know the results from your post, I am interested also.

Saw a huge gator laying on the bank of a small pond soaking up the sun. He looked to be at least 10 feet long. A Lab would be a snack for him. Supposedly he's been relocated. I sure hope so.

jdog, where are you in the panhandle? We're between Destin and Panama City.

Our dog is in his first Splash Dog Competition in Pensacola right now. Today he jumped 16.11. Tomorrow are the finals we will see how he does. We have no Clubs in the Panhandle but there would be enough people out here interested in the Sport. The only ting we do is we take our dogs to the Bay and practice on docks there.

Woohooo! We had a house that just sold about 3 years ago right on the Bay and spent many evenings in Destin :) I hope to return one day and hopefully we can all get together and jump dogs!
