Milo is a young male Chocolate Labrador Retriever from New Orleans. I am helping a New Orleans man find his dogs. There were seven of them. He smuggled one out in a bag, a little old Cocker Spaniel female. Six were left in his house. Myself and other volunteers tracked down four of them, leaving two either lost in New Orleans, desceased, or lost in the system.

Brian, the owner of the seven dogs, was injured when he was helping neighbors get food. He has a fever and went to Causeway Overpass with the only dog he could get out, little Miss Zina. As he waited, a chocolate labrador retriever was running frantically from person. Brian was told the dog have been left behind when his owner was evacuated.

Somehow, Brian got Milo out and paid to have him shipped to Minnesota where he was evacuated.

Later, with four of his own dogs found, Brian can only have room for two plus his Rottweiler who is his self trained service dog.

We found foster care for two of his dogs through Petfinder. Zina and Bozer, one of the four lost dogs now found, will be at home with him. He is looking for a place to stay with all his dogs.

I have asked for foster care for Milo, but what I really want is a two for one reunification. If anyone remembers a Chocolate Labrador from New Orleans named Milo, please contact me. Milo appears to be about two. He is healthy, friendly, and sweet. (also a nutty dog, but he is a two year old Labrador Retriever.)

His owner loved him enough to put his name on his collar.

Milo wants to go home.

This is a long shot. I am posting Milo notices everywhere. If you have a clue, e-mail me.

Thanks.

I am confused by your story? Are you looking for Milo? Is he in New Orleans or Minnestoa? Can you post a picture of him?

isn't there some "lost and found" type site for pets? I swear I've seen one before but I don't remember the site....does anyone know of such a site?

Regarding Milo, I have posted Milo's information all over the internet, but a lot of Katrina refuges do not have internet access. Don't let anything fool you that status quo is back. Many are still living in temporary housing, from shelters to FEMA trailers to hotels.

Facts of the case:

Milo was rescued from Causeway overpass in New Orleans.

Milo was in foster care with the guy who rescued him. (Guy was evacuated to Minnesota and stayed.)

Guy who rescued him couldn't keep him when he got his dogs back. His present housing did not allow him to keep all of his owns dogs as it was.

I posted here on the off chance that Milo's dad might be a member.

The guy I am helping has special needs and doesn't plan. He has now handed Milo over to the maintenance man at his trailer park. This was right before I found the perfect foster home for Milo, a Labrador Retriever trainer and breed judge in Minnesota. I wanted to strangle the guy who rescued Milo for doing that. I am still trying to get him to get Milo back. Milo is intact. He could end up contributing to the already terrible lab overpopulation problem! Plus, Milo is totally wild and untrained. He could end up in a shelter where he might have been the poster dog for dog rescue.
