Im feeding my 9 week old puppy (Zoe) Eukanuba Large Breed Puppy food i was just wondering if there was a better suggestion for around the same price. I want a feed that will be good for her and make her a healthier puppy. I know the first ingredient should be a meat product but i hear more and more that that weight is off before its cooked. I looked at wellness and blue buffalo any help would be great thank you so much :)

If she's doing well, why switch. Eukanuba is a pretty good food. It's what works for your dog that is the best food.

First ingredient is supposed to be a meat meal, like chicken meal or lamb meal. However, Euk is good and I know many breeders that feed it exclusively.

If she's doing well on it, I guess you can keep her on it but there are a few ingredients that I just don't agree with. here are the first few ingredients of the large breed puppy food: Chicken, Corn Meal, Ground Whole Grain Sorghum, Chicken By-Product Meal (Natural source of Chondroitin Sulfate and Glucosamine), Brewers Rice, Chicken Flavor, Dried Beet Pulp. the first ingredient is chicken, which is o.k. however, it does contain corn as its second ingredient. corn is a cheap filler and common allergen. it also contains a few other debatably bad ingredients: by products, brewers rice, and beet pulp. if she were MY puppy, I would switch her to a better food:2cents:.

At 9 weeks you don't have any long track record if Eukanuba is going to be a good choice for your puppy or not. So, if you're considering other formulas, for whatever reason, it's not a bad time. For similar $, I'd be looking at Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's Soul, Healthwise, California Natural Chicken and Rice Puppy, just to name a few. I like to try formulas where the proteins are more meat-sourced and the grains are whole grains.

good advice! those foods are MUCH better than eukanuba IMO. you should really look into switching to those
