I found out some very bad news today. The store we have been buying Maisey's dog food from is no longer going to be carrying her brand (Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul). I'm terribly disappointed as this is the first food that Maisey has not had problems with. I can't find anyone else in town that carries the food, so I guess we will have to change eventually.
My question is, if I stock up now and buy an extra bag or two, how long will it still be good?

I think you can freeze it, although I haven't done that myself. I know there's a guy on another board who divides his dog food up into smaller amounts and freezes it to keep it fresh.
Did they give you a reason for not carrying Chicken Soup any longer? From what I've heard, most dogs that try it do well on it, although its a bit pricey, at least around here - $1/lb. My dog eats this brand as well.
I hope you find another store that carries it.

Check the expiration date on the Chicken Soup bags... if your retailer has good turnover, it should be about a year. Just store your unopened bags in a cool dark place AWAY FROM RODENTS.
That should buy you some time to either find a new food or convince another retailer to carry the Chicken Soup.

You could always order it off the net too. It may cost a bit more but I love The Chicken soup food. I have had such good luck with it that I have recomended it too all my friends. they started going to my store and my dealer is always running out. I told my Dealer when he was out one day and had to give me a small bag until his order came in that I have been telling all my friends about it that is why he is running out. I also told him to order more. Maybe You could get a group of friends together and order enough to keep him stocking it? Maybe you could order it right from the company? Back years ago I had my dog food delivered from UPS it certainly was convinient but a bit expensive. If you get others to switch to the food you can split the cost of shipping. Or order enough to get a discount???
